I have an Electrolux epic 6500SR I'm trying to change the power cord can't seem to find how to take apart the cannister where the cord is located Can anyone please give me step step directions?
You really don't want to get into the vacuum. You could cause more damage than what you have now. After you do get into the vac, the cordwinder is another monster to get into.
There are two strips, one on each side of the cleaner under the rubber bumpers. The strips have to be removed by pulling off the bumper and pull them out the front of the vac. This is not easy. After you get the locking strips out, turn the vac over and pull the bottom off. Then you can see the cordwinder.
The best thing to do is take the vac to a Aerus/Electrolux shop for repair.

When I turn on my veacume cleaner it shuts off after 2 seconds of running. A red light comes on. It is not the ? light. If I remove the hose from the canister it runs fine. I have checked the hose for obstructions and there are none.

8 yr old system started making noise several months ago. Last week lost power but can still here solinoide trying to click on. There is some black arching inside the unit on top of the filter. There seems to be a saftey switch inside that the filter holds in place, this is where the arching is. System will not now turn on??

Vacuum runs 5 or so minutes then shuts off indicating bag is full. Bag is not full and almost empty. Have cleaned out hose so no blockage. Also put in new filter. Same issue. Each time it will start up but shut off quicker and quicker so that eventually it shuts off immedialty after restarting. Appears once it gets warmed up then it overheats and automatically shuts off. If you let it sit 30/60 minutes then you can run it for another 5 minutes or so.
