Slides posterized

Using a Powerslide 3650, with ICE disabled, scanning into Photoshop 7...
Problem is some slides come across posterized. This seems to be limited to slides with a large concentration of light and color in a singular area, causing the shadows to become drastically posterized. Pictures with even color and exposure do not display this same issue- any help is appreciated!
