Electronic Panel not working.

We have the PFS22FISBSS GE profile refrigerator. The electronic panel, @ inside/top of the refrigerator, intermittantly works. The ref seems to cycle on/off a bunch and oftentimes seems to not keep food cold. The panel came on yesterday and said upper was 56 and bottom was 37. Which, with ice melting, seemed accurate. After shutting doors and reopening, panel would not respond. Thoughts?
Thanks,
Ryan

How do I repair a ge side by side that is not cooling/freezing

If this is a profile or Artica. it could have a bad sensor in the freezer. the one that is clipped to the freezer coils and can cause the electronic control board to not defrost. If the refrigerator does not have an electronic control then it is more than likely a defrost component has failed. Remove the back panel, defrost the ice and check the heater coil for continuity. if it is good then the defrost thermostat is most likely bad. If it is good then the defrost timer or control is probably the culprit.

Sounds like a bad motherboard and probley need control board. You can put in self dianoss. Press all the buttons on panel for 5 seconds. This will start the program. It will check all sensors. Come back with codes and I will help you. Wait to hear from you. I hopes this helps. david_gra582

GE Profile PSC23MYA-WW control panel not working. Interior lightscome on when door is opened, but ref. and freezer are getting warmer. No way to set temperatures.

The control board must be check. It is where the temperature control and the defrost timer located their electronic control circuit and the button panel. Usually the temperature control and defrost timer must be set and adjusted to be able to control the function of the refrigerator. Since it is not working anymore there's no other option but to check it.
Good luck to you.

The GE Profile PDS22sfsarss is now 4 1/2 years old. One year ago, the temperature panel stopped working and a repair person told me to just order that circuit -- which I did and replaced it myself....

Not certain this will help your situation, but here is what I did to mine.

GE Profile Bottom-Freezer Refrigerator with Electronic controls with digital temperature readout (Should include Models PDS20MFS, PDS20SFS, PDS22MFS, PDS22SFS, PDS22MFS) May also apply to other models.

Diagnosis: Search of Internet yielded no definitive fix. It appeared to me that the some minor frost buildup might be symptomatic of unseen frost elsewhere. The electronic controls could possibly be messed up.

Fix: Not knowing whether it was frost or the electronic controls (or both), did the following:

1. Turned off the refrigerator. (It is not clear how to do that. Download the owner's manual for your model from the Internet. If it is like mine, the freezer and refrigerator APPEAR to have separate controls. In fact they are linked. To turn both freezer and refrigerator off, press the WARMER button on EITHER the refrigerator OR freezer until the display shows OFF for both the freezer and refrigerator.)

2. Unplugged the unit. Let it set for 18 hours with both doors open.

3. Plugged it in (which probably reset the electronic controls.)

4. Turned it on. To do so, I followed the instructions that said to press the COLDER button on either the refrigerator or freezer. Press the same COLDER button a second time and it should go to the factory presets of 0 degrees for the freezer and 37 degrees for the refrigerator.

5. Allowed the temperatures to stabilize for a week, after which temperature adjustments can be made.

Temperature and adjust refrigerator panel does not work.

problems exist in its electronic control panel that is damaged, this problem should be solved by replacing one block electronic circuit in the control panel. damage is usually caused by a memory of the troubled program. actually if you know you can fix the electronic control panel of the electronic circuit itself, simply replace the IC EEPROM or memory alone. follows with Cristal oscilator usually must be replaced too

Have Ge Profile, temp rising, frozen on bottom. Read to check defrost heater by removing rear panel. What is the best way to remove back panel. Having difficult time. Removed 4 screws.

if your unit is cold at the bottom, on both sides, and warm at the top, your freezer fan is out, and the air is not circulating. however, there is a likely problem with both the fan motor, AND the main electronic computer located on the back of the unit. without testing, it is best to replace both. the problem originated with the fan motor, the originals have been known to short out a resistor on the main board, necessitating both replacements. hope this helps
