My roper washing machine wont stop filling, water just keeps running until it runs over the top of tub and onto floor. I was just wondering if the switch controls the water level of is there something on the tub itself.

If when you shut off or unplug the machine, the water stops response #1 is correct.
If shutting it off or unplgging it, doesn't work and you have to shut the water off at the shut off valves, the dual water valve is bad.

I have a Kenmore 500 top load washer that doesn't hold water. As it is filling for the wash cycle all the water runs down the drain

The drain hose outlet must be higher than the 'full' water level in the tub or the water will syphon out until the tub water equals the hose height. If the drain system you are using for the washer is floor level, then you need to install a vertical pipe (1-1/2" minimum) to place the hose end into at the top and it should eject the water through a 90 degree elbow onto the floor at the bottom. There are more elegant solutions, but this will stop the tub from self-draining. Good luck!

Sometimes washer keeps running water & doesnt fill up. i have to unplug it for a few hours so it can work again...has happened on all cycles...what causes tub not to fill with water

water is siphoning out the drain hose ,drain pipe not high enough "must be 36 inchs"from floor or hose is inserted in pipe to far creating a suction situation ~once over the edge it cant stop...., may need a anti siphon kit on drain hose .

Gcxrpo9odoww GE washer .. On fill up, it over flows onto floor?

Fill switch could be bad, or fill tube could be plugged making water not stop and it keeps filling. The fill tube goes from fill load selector switch to bottom of tub. Remove from top and blow it out. If this doesnt work replace water load size selector switch.

Unit is filling up half way or so and just keeps running, but will not fill up all the way almost like water is draining and running at same time

Tub keeps filling does not overflow.
Solution:
Drain hose must be 36 inchs above floor level to prevent siphoning.

Water runs contiuously... tub never fills...cycle doesn't start.

Hi, You need to reset the drain hose. It needs to be over the water level in the machine. If you have it in a sump pump, it needs to be out of the water in the sump. If I can help you further, please let me know

Thanks

Wont fill up with water it drains out before its full

If you hear the motor running when it is draining then you have a bad timer. If it just drains out and the motor is not running then you have a siphon problem which is caused if the drain hose is too low. Let me know what you find.

Roper washer does not drain

Alicia7q : Faulty water pump or restriction in drain line between tub and outlet hose.

arlenekc,: That metal thing is part of the motor. What you have is a leaking water pump.

badwasher,: Check the lid switch. This machine will not spin or drain if the switch is faulty.
