Question about Microsoft Windows XP Professional for PC

1 Answer

UNINSTALL PGE file on my xp system.

Funny, I haven't noticed this program before.

I was going to remove another program when I noticed this "Uninstall PGE". It sees it as Size. 1.52 Gig, "used occasionally", "last used 3/5/2004"

any one encounter this before, would you/can you remove this program without any dire ramifications?

Uninstall it if you need the space. You haven't used it in 4 years.
If space isn't an issue, leave it there. You never noticed it before and it doesn't appear to be running anything detrimental to your system.

I would search for it from the search command and see where it is on your drive.

That should give you some more information about it or more info for your google search.

Windows 7
  1. From the Start menu, select Control Panel.

Windows Vista
  1. From the Start menu, select Control Panel.

  2. In Classic View, double-click Programs and Features. If using the Control Panel Home view, under "Programs", click Uninstall a program.

  3. Select the program you want to remove, and click Uninstall. Alternatively, right-click the program and select Uninstall.
Windows XP in the default XP view

  1. From the Start menu, select Settings, and then Control Panel.

  2. Double-click the Add/Remove Programs icon.

  3. Select the program you wish to remove and click Add/Remove.
Using the Uninstall program from the Start menu If the program you wish to uninstall is not listed among the installed programs, an uninstall program for that item might be available on the Start menu. To look for such an option:
  1. From the Start menu, select Programs or All Programs.

Uninstall XP Professional

If the computer was upgraded, then go into START | CONTROL PANEL | ADD/REMOVE Programs, see if uninstall Windows XP Pro is there. If it is you can uninstall it and not loose anything and the computer will reveert back to the operating system that was on there, before th upgrade.

Sometimes it is there, sometimes not.

If that doesn't work, then go to START | CONTROL PANEL | ADD/REMOVE Programs | windows components, and take out any uneeded components. Also check your system tray (bottom right by the clock) and see if there are eny programs there that you can close or better still uninstall as they eat memory and slow down your system.

Unable to install a new powerdvd version

I imagine that it's trying to uninstall the older version to install the newer one, which it can't. NOTE: This is a desperate step. Delete the Cyberlink folder in C:\Program Files\; Go to Add/Remove Programs and attempt uninstall - it will say it can't uninstall, and ask you if oyu want to remove it from the program list. Click yes. Go to start->Search (or Find) and search for Cyberlink (make sure that Hidden and System files are being searched). Delete all Cyberlink files. Do the same, but with PowerDVD. Download and run CCleaner. Attempt to reinstall PowerDVD.
