Question about Epson Stylus 680 InkJet Color Printer

1 Answer

Poor print quality

When doing a nozel check print, the short horizontal lines which make up the sloping lines are misaligned in the vertical axis and I'm getting fuzzy prints. This only affects the black ink, colour is fine.

I've run through the cleaning protocols and changed the cartridge...any suggestions.

You may wish to run a self adjusting in test mode or user tools. Also, what type of paper are you using? This is critical good quality prints. You might check your ink cartridges to see if there is an obstruction. Download the manual or check your printed manual you should have when you bought the printer.

My MP600 printer prints horizontal stripes on glossy photo paper. Also, a single line of black dots prints vertically. I have deep cleaned the nozzle and realigned the printing. The wide black cartridge...

First your white horizontal lines are due to you not printing in the best quality. Go into the printing preferences and change the quality to best/quality.

The dots printed vertically are possibly due to ink getting onto the star wheels on the doc exit rollers. Also its possible that the printing media is a bit on the thin side and may need to be supported when exiting the machine.

Those should solve your problem. A new printhead wont make any difference.

Good luck

Poor print quality, but only on certain lines

Pull out the cartridges. Wet a q-tip with alcohol and clean the foil contacts that are in the spaces that the cartridges just occupied. Use a flashlight to better see what you are doing. See if that helps.

And what kind of lines are you getting on the printout? Vertical?Horizontal? Those could be ink that is on the feed rollers.

About 15mm dark hadow vertical line on the page.

Sounds like its time for a new drum/print cartridge. When it get worn you start to get poor quality prints and sometimes lines. COule also be scratched and transfering the line on the prints but in either case needs to be replaced.

Horzontal white lines cut through print and picture copies. When doing head allignment the horozontal bars all have a white gap, 1 through 7. Epson Stylus CX5400

You don't need to do head alignment, because it is for vertical banding in printout. Vertical banding can be minimized by disabling high speed option without doing head alignment. If your printout have horizontal white lines, do check nozzle and head cleaning, or you can minimize white lines by printing in best quality (photo).

Vertical and horizontal lines when printing photos - HP Photosmar

it sounds as if you may have the picture quality set to draft, its worth a check, especially if printing is ok. Does it print colour writing well too or just black, one of the colour inks may have a block or be low, go into printer settings menu and check what print quality its set for.
