Re: biostar motherboard

I am not certain how "old" these systems are but it sounds like upgrading is not necessarily going to be smooth. has a barebones system you can install your hard drive in and be up and running. Here's the link:

I recently updated my bios of mother board g31-m7te,how to roll back to old bios

Why do you think that you need to roll-back?
Each BIOS-update typically is 95% the "same" as the previous, so it's strange that the "new" 5% could be causing a problem.
What has stopped working?

Did you use the BIOS-update utility to create a 'backup' of the old BIOS? If so, re-flash with that code.

If not, look at the web-site from where you got the updated BIOS;
perhaps, it also offers back-level versions of the BIOS.
Re-flash your BIOS, with the older code.

flashing or updating the bios is a critical step, make sure there's an actual and valid need to do this as if something goes wrong while you do it your motherboard will be dead afterwards.
now.. instructions on how to update your bios can be found here

for dual boot installation make sure you create 2 partions, install 98 first in one and xp, second, in the other partition

for more info on dual-booting check this

good luck!

Original motherboard sound drivers from MB disk don,t work.

Here is a link to the driver page for your board.
updates and see if this is

You could try downloading the driver from the site..Maybe there is a problem with the one on the disk. Also check the BIOS updates and see if this is a known issue. They may have a BIOS update to fix this issue. Before installing the driver/software I would remove the current audio software and remove the audio from the device manager and then re-boot the computer. Then install the downloaded software and see if that works.

Problem installation on Windows XP

Three things
1) Do you have enough memory at lest 1Gb
2) Is it a full genuine Windows disk. Some disks out there are a mixture of different things and some cannot find hard drive
3) Try another setup disc and see if it works
Sometimes the disk has a read fault
One last thing to try is Reset BIOS to default

Cpu install

If you go in to the bios you should be able to change the multyplier from x6 to x16.

Failing that try loading optimized default in the bios. :)
