I have a Roland Versacamm

I have a Roland Versacamm model that is printing full solvent inks. THis morning it has started dropping out the yellow ink completely. I have fitted a new cartridge, a new damper and cleaned the printer. But yellow is still not working. What do you suggest?

- This is not a paper printer, this is a wide format inkjet printer. If there was a nozzle blocked I would be geting some Yellow print, but not a full print. I am not getting any yellow to print at all. There is a complete drop out of the Yellow print.

- This is not a paper printer, it is a wide format Inkjet printer. I have cleaned the print heads fully. There is NO Yellow ink printing.

- No 'computer shop' can fix a wide format ink jet printer. The yellow is 'dropping out' of the print, .ie it is not printing. It is not leaking on the print either.

- There is no hardware malfunction, the colour merely dropped out. there should be a relatively simple solution.

- Thank you. The pump is working fine - I have cleaned the heads & changed the damper. Ink lines are flusing through ok on the cleaning cycle, so they are not blocked.

- No white lines on pump.

- Pump is working fine, and I changed the damper. Ink is flushing through on cleaning cycle so lines are not blocked.

- There are no error codes, the machine thinks it is printing yellow. The cleaning cycle pulls all inks through the lines & it IS pulling through the yellow - therefore no ink blockage. After a powerful cleaning cycle the yellow prints a little & then rapidly drops out again.

- I have tried turning it on and off. This is not a standard printer - no reset switch.

- It can tell me how much ink is left in the cartridge, so it must be able to read it.

hold down the on/reset button a few seconds ....on some printers this will reset it and it might just work ...

- I understood that ..its something like an industrial printer for newspapers and so ...but it has to have something like this ...the issue is that it doesn't see the ink cartrige anymore ...cause of that lick ...try to clean the sensors ...around it ...I believe its located somewhere at the bottom of the cartridge ...anyway ..ask for another opinion ...someone might really know what to do..

I have read through the comments you have posted. If the lines are not blocked and the nozzle is not clogged then you have to have either a program fault or a hardware fault. Double check your contacts on the cartridge to make sure they are making contact. If possible clean the contacts on the printer, you should be able to carefully use an eraser to clean them. If these are clean try printing from another program to see if the printer will print Yellow. If the other program works then you need to re-install the program you have having problems with. It may be a good Idea to remove and re-install the printer drivers to the computer as well. Hope this helps.

Unfortunately it sounds like the wide format printer you have will need some hardware replacement, it sounds like some part of the ink control has malfunctioned =(. Very difficult to say what you have going on, you sadly will have to call Roland to have them diagnose it. Their number is:

Hello, regarding on your problem i suggest that if you can find a computer shop in your place or contact the supplier of your printer then let them examine and fix the problem. In that way you are assured that they can fix it because they have complete tools and equipment for repairing and fixing the printer's problem. Also to prevent any additional damage from your printer cause if the ink continues in dropping out the yellow ink it might possibly damage the printer board and eventually you have to buy new one. So the best and simple suggestion please follow the instructions above.

Thanks

Re-clean. There may be a nozzle clogged.
Use Isopropyl alcohol and a cotton swab.
Also clean the contacts with an eraser - run test pages to verify proper ink usage.

Thanks

I am not a printer expert but I believe this printer has a pump and ink supply lines? Is it possible that either the supply or the drain lines may have a plug? I would disconnect the lines and check them for stoppage, then reconnect and check the dampers, supply, drain lines and dampers seem to be the 2 biggest problem areas.

Replaced the damper and cap top. Check the line that runs out of the pump to the drain bottle for plugs. What color are the lines on your pump? The old pumps had white lines and were a problem.

- Is this machine giving any kind of a trouble code? that would help a great deal if there was a self diagnostic done to find out where the problem might be. Is it possible to draw any yellow ink from the supply cartridge to make sure it is able to flow out of the cartridge itself?

Sorry to hear that you are having problems with you VersaCAMM printer.

First, be sure to locate where the ink is leaking. Usually, when the head printer goes bad, it leaks thru the head. However, this is not the only issue that it may cause the problem.

I'm not sure what model number do you have, so I'm providing a generic solution.

* Check for cracked manifold stems, if cracked, replace cap tops, stems and damper. Better if you replace all.
* Replaced yellow damper/Syringed ink to create vacuum.

If everything looks fine at this point but still having problems, then you need to go technical:

* Power off the equipment and look for blown fuses. If any, replace it. Keep a few fuses handy in case it blew again.
* If fuse were replaced but it breaks again, there is a short circuit in the board. The board (an expensive one) may need to be replaced.
* At this point, a technician with experience in component level repair may need to check this printer.

Hope this helps, Good luck.
