My DVD is showing "no disc"

The DVD drive may be unable to read the disc. If you try a couple of different DVDs and get the same result, it pretty much confirms drive failure.

Display Reads - No Read or UNSUPPORTED when using DVD

If you cant play a real dvd in it, the laser is prob out of allignment or broken, if its just dvd that you burned, try changing disc type, there is +R and -R , also if that does not work try a different program to burn discs ? good program is convert X to dvd, not free, unless your good at torrents :)

When I insert a disc I get a "Disc Error" after

Most DVD players display that kind of error when unable to read data on you disc media. Try other DVD disc if that post the same problem. A new one will test if it is the unit problem or the media disc problem. If it post the same problem on a disc that runs well on other players then your player probably has a dirty lens. You can clean the lens using commercially available DVD lens cleaner on the market.

My Sony RDR-GX7 dvd recorder keeps giving me a "disc error" message every time I try to play a disc. How can I fix this?

Hard to say because this could be caused by any number of things. You could try cleaning the optical read head but this could get very involved unless you use a cleaning disc which may not work. You could try different discs such as a CD to see if that still fails. It could be the disc format. If everything fails then most likely a repair is required. Go to and locate a SONY repair location.

File sys error

you can try with the disc format of the cd, not dvd format. The difference between DVD and CD is the color of the disc surface. see the result if the result is the same when read DVD discs? if the result is the same it indicates that the optical lens is defective. if otherwise is only a DVD laser beam that has been weakened or defective.

try some more different disc.also check out the disc in another player.if the disc are working in another player that means the disc are proper but the lens in the player is either got faulty or dust is got collected on the lens glass.get the lens cleaning cd from the local electronics computer shop and insert in the player and try inserting the cd if same error that means the lens is got faulty and needs replacement. thanks.
