Carrier Jam Carrier shifts from one end to the other making a thumping noise with message "clear carrier jam" I have spoken to 7 Dell technicians online, all have failed to give me a satisfactory reason for this problem, let alone to resolve. Even the user mannual is silent over this issue.

This happens, when printer is old one or it has either dried ink on carrier stall bar or some obstructions. Move the carrier stall manually 3-4 times from left to right and then take a damp cloth and clean the metal bar on which carrier stall moves. If you have kleenex and WD-40 nothing like that. Lubricate the bar, with that or some other lubrication agent. Do it once in a month, if printer is too old and/or u use a refilled cartridge. Dell is great!
