Have you re-installed the printer drivers with the printer reconnected. Some tcp/ip printer drivers will lose their ip settings if the device is disconnected for a set number of reboots. Also, if the DHCP or NAT settings are altered, the device will vanish from the network. Try reinstalling the printer drivers with the printer connected and turned on and the device drivers should detect the printer again and reconnect to it. When the cable was removed, if it was simply pulled out, was any damage caused to the ports the printer was plugged into..? Network ports are fragile and the insertion or removal of a cable connector with just a little too much force can cause damage to the port. Carefully inspect the port both inside and where possible, outside including the electrical connections to the circuit board the port is fitted to.
