Maytag Washer Not Completely Rinsing

Our Maytag Washer recently stopped rinsing the clothes correctly (i.e. the clothes are still left soapy). All cycles seem to be working fine and the water fills and completely drains out. Tried running with only water (no clothes) and all looked fine.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Re: Maytag Washer Not Completely Rinsing

If your washer has an extra rinse button try pushing it. My Maytag refuses to wash unless that button is pushed, so in your case it may not be completing the rinse cycle correctly.

Just a suggestion.

My Maytag topload washer is not completely rinsing the clothes completely in the rinse cycle. For example, I have to only place three bath towels at a time to rinse.

That may just be a worn out belt. It's pretty easy to replace. Tip back the washerthemobilian_1410.jpg
With belt off turn the pump. It should be pretty easy to turn by hand. Finally if the belt is good and pump is fine then you might have a bad main drive pulley or a badly worn one. The pulley releases the tub for spin. If the pulley is worn out it won't release well and the clothes will be soggy.

Spinning cycle

Keeping in mind that the soap & bleach gets dispensed into your wash on the second to last rinse cycle and that most all rinse cycles are in cold water. Is your cold water valve screen plugged causing your washer to rinse poorly? Are you using the HE detergent? If not maybe the washer is sudsing up to much and having a hard time rinsing all the suds and bleach out and leaving the clothes soapy.

Fill the washer up with no clothes in it on a cold/cold wash setting does it take a long time to fill the washer up? Also when it is full and agitating is there suds in the washer?

Last suggestion is if the drain is hose is a lot higher than the top of the washer it might have a hard time draining out all of the soap water before the next load

I have a hotpoint wm54 and it is not rinsing or spinning properly, at the end of the cycle the clothes are dripping wet & soapy, however if i manually put on to rinse and spin it seems to work!

You need to check and clean the pump filter.
Remove rear panel od washer, locate and remove large black hose on bottom of drum, remove and clean filter inside the hose.

Washer is rinsing with hot wateer nomatter what temp. setting is used. I have tried to switch hoses twice now, no difference in rinse but now on correct wash temp.

The MAH5500 series washers have automatic temperature control functions so the washer can control water temp regardless of water heater settings and other factors. I would say either your definition of "hot" is not truly "hot" (over 110 degrees), or the washer's ability to sense has failed (which would also affect fill temp on "wash" fills also). If someone has worked on the washer recently, maybe they reversed the wiring to the water valves inside the machine? ATC temps are as follows: Cold 70-90, warm 90-110, and hot is unregulated at 110 degrees and up. These are normal temp ranges for ATC controlled machines, and are completely safe for fabrics.

Leaves clothes very wet and soapy

Your pump is clogged. This stops the machine from spinning out or rinsing. You have to locate the thing, (comes under the tub, lower end of big black tube) take the clamps out to clear the muck. Refit as you have dismantled. First try to drain out the water completely or you will flood your room.

Does not spin in most cycles

It sounds like your timer is defective.  If this is the case you will have to replace it.

Soapy cloths after wash

first make sure the drain is at the right height(the exit should be about the same height as the main part of the washer) are the clothes spinning? could be a gearcase problem, also your pump might be clogged good luck!!
