Re: Size reduction

You can do this with most photo editing applications (Adobe Photoshop, Paint, etc.)... For Paint, just open the picture file (.jpg) in Paint, click the 'Image' menu and select 'Stretch and Skew'. You'll see a window which will allow you to reduce the image size by precentage (try 50% in each box). Then save your image and the resulting file should be a lot smaller.

Photos to big to import to some sites from my sony digital DSC-WX9 camera

You can use just about any photo editing program to reduce the resolution of the photos. For example, in Windows Photo Gallery select "E-mail" from the menu.
If you know you're not going to do anything but email the photos, you can reduce the resolution in the camera so as to create smaller photos in the first place using the Still Image Size command in the Shooting menu. However, if you happen to take a great photo you won't be able to make a good print of it because it's too small.

I can't upload photos on to e-bay - I think it's because they're too big. How do I change settings on my camera to reduce the size of the photos taken? The longest side needs to be between 1000 - 1600...

This will be difficult as you didn't mention the camera make or model. But assuming Canon, press Function, Func, or Func/Set, then scroll down to the bottom selection.

Select the "S" for small picture resolution (this should be around 640 x 480). When you want to go back to high resolution, just reverse the process and select "L" for Large (High) resolution pictures.

Photo resolution

Sony H1 takes photos at 72 dpi by default. But the picture quality will be good. if you want to convert it to 300dpi open the picture in adobe Photoshop and select image size and change resolution to 300 dpi. but the file size will be very high to up load. if you want to reduce the file size select the image size in adobe photoshop and reduce it according to your requirement. if my solution proves good please rate it. Regards.

Panasonic DMC-TZ3 72 dpi problem

Sounds like Photoshop's setting, or default setting, is to import picture at its maximum size. If you RESIZE pic on Photoshop, it shoud automatically increase DPI while reducing physical size.

The other thing to be aware, TZ3 defaults to a certain jpg compression. You can minimize compression of data with settings options on TZ3, but I doubt this has anything to do with your PhotoShop issue.

Also, in SIMPLE mode you can select a physical size for photo, even after pic is taken(resize), on camera.

Hopes this helps.

Photo size too large for email

You can do that in 2 ways.

1) Shoot the photo or video in reduced size (less quality). This can achieved by adjusting the settings in your camera.

2) Use 3rd party software like photoshop or Microsoft paint to manually reduce the size using it.
