Question about GoVideo Go Video DVD/VCR Combo
The DVD door won't open on my Go Video DV2130 machine.
I have a model DV1140 on my 4 year old son’s room since 2004 and I’ve seen this kind of issue before. This is mostly caused by trying to eject the DVD without pressing “stop” twice before ejecting it. But since you are already in trouble you may try this: First, let the player start to play the movie (you must let it play all the sneak previews first). Second, press “stop” twice (make sure the counter reads 0:00:00). Third, press “eject”. It should be working fine by now. If not, then you’ll probably experiencing the same issue I had today. My wife came to me complaining about the dvd player, she told me that she couldn’t get the player to eject the disc. “Women” I thought (sorry for that I didn’t mean it), but when I was trying my “magic” I heard an unusual winding noise coming out from the DVD tray. Since I couldn’t get the DVD to eject I decided to open up the player and check it for any loose or broken parts, nothing fancy anyone can do this. (If you don’t feel comfortable with this, just don’t do it and take the unit to a repair shop). Ok, now for the ones who stayed with me. Most important; first, unplug the unit from the AC outlet and disconnect it from all sources (TV, Cable, Sat, etc.). Remove a few Philips screws located at both sides and on the back panel and then remove the top lid, you should be able to see your disc by now. There should be another small black plastic “lid” on top of your DVD tray (this ensures the disc stays in place and centered), remove this lid by unscrewing another two Philips screws located on both sides of this “lid”. By now you should be able to remove your disc. After removing the disc you may try to plug the unit back to an outlet and turn it back on to look for any unusual sounds (like the one I heard) to identify any issues, (CAUTION: avoid any exposure to the laser beam). If you can’t find anything wrong yet then proceed to remove the front panel (it has a few clips all around just be careful not to break any of them). Now, check inside the DVD mechanism (a flashlight may be helpful here) when you look inside search for two small “pulleys” (mostly white)there should be a black rubber belt running around them if there is no belt around you’d just found half of the problem. If you are in luck you may find the little rubber belt (about an inch on diameter) or what is left of it inside the DVD tray. As soon as you find it you will have the other half of the problem. You see, when you press the eject button it activates a motor that spins the two “pulleys” I mentioned before with the help of the little belt you’d just found. This makes the DVD tray to move in or out of the player.
I hope this will be helpful for anyone out there with the same problem. (Remember, this work for my player (DV1140), I’m not totally sure that it’ll work for all models). As for me? Well, now I have to search for the belt p/n and were can I get two of them (one for spare). If anyone found it first you can contact me at: firstname.lastname@example.org

Yeah, I have the Go Video DVR 4100 and it recently has done the same thing. I bought it in March 2003, so this being 2008 I suppose it's time for something on it to bust. The VHS player still works though. I did the unplug and replug while holding eject button, but it still didn't open. Luckily, I have a non interest DVD in there so I' can wait. I have another DVD player I use. I'm sure one day it will accidently open due to some electronic magic elf.
