my printer keeps saying color cartridge missing

Dell 946 printer has been working for over 2 yrs.

Dell 946 printer has been working for over 2 yrs with Dell computer. Today computer says can not communicate with printer. Will not print from any program. Ran thru trouble shooting, disconnecting USB cable, replacing cable, powered down, control panel says printer ready. Printer test copy is good. Copies ok. What is wrong?

reinstall the printer driver and check the printer spooler started or not........... to start print spooler go to start...>run..then type services,msc then enter..>it will open a window....>open printer spooler service and restart it.....................
