Low suction Have a Powr-Flite PF 18, suction is good at motor, but low at where hose comes out of top of vacuum. Could new lid seals help the problem? Where can I get new seals for this model. Also my zip is 98801 and my shop is not listed, could you add it please? Sew Creative 1139 N. Princeton Wenatchee, Wa 98801 509-663-5516 Thanks, Lauren-Sew Creative

The problem was the motor cover was warped, replaced it and suction was good again.

Replacing the motor cover solved the problem, it must have been warped and was letting suction out thru it.

The suction of the vacuum has gone down from the suction that was when it was new(about two years old). All areas have be cleaned and there are no obstructions or blockages in the unit, it just seems less...

you may have a little wear in the hose, although sometimes it is wise top take it in for an overhaul. If you take it to a good tech they will take it apart, clean the motor and adjust the rubber seals.Simply,a vacuum means no air,the better sealed the vacumm the better suction...hope this helps

My machine is only a few months old and has worked perfectly until now. I cannot get the machine to pull the solution back into dirty tank. I have tried the suggestion with the lid and that did not help....

If you are sure the lid is in place, another reason for lack of suction is that the duct on the front of the dirty water tank is missing. The duct may have been removed to install the hose, and was not put back in place. It is a square plastic piece, about the size of a slice of sandwich bread, which slides into the front of the tank. A far less common reason for no pick-up is that the seal that the tank sits on has fallen off the motor cover suction tube. You will see a round tube on the bottom of the dirty water tank. This sits on top of a large rubber seal on the motor cover when the tank is in place. Be sure the seal has not fallen down into the hood.

I have a new hoover steam vac. It has no suction.

The most common reason for lack of pick up is that the lid is not fully seated on the dirty water tank. Be sure to hook the two tabs on the front of the lid, and then snap the rear latch into place. My pump blew need a new one which one is it

In the event you do not have a manual, though it sounds like you do, you can find one at this URL:
http://www.powr-flite.com/text/powr_pdf/manuals/extractors/PFX1350_Manual.pdf
The location and telephone number of the company is at the bottom page of the URL. They are located in Ft. Worth, Texas and should be able to provide you with the information and part you need.
If this solution is of help to you, I would appreciate a Thumbs Up.
Be well. Paul

Tornado wide area commercial vacuum

Hi There,

Your Tornado Wide Area vacuum cleaner is actually manufacturered by Powr-Flite. The two companies are sister companies, and owned by the same parent company Tacony.

It sounds like to me that your belt may have broken, or fallen off of the motor shaft. This may explain why the roller brush is not spinning. There is also a reset switch on the machine, on the top (item # 41 in diagram below), you should check the reset switch first. Try pushing down on this switch to see if this will restart your brushes.

If it doesn't, here are instructions on how to open up the belt, and inspect it or replace it if it's broken:

If you need to purchase a new belt, you may contact Powr-Flite at 1-800-880-2913, and request them to send you part number 19802.

Here's links to the instruction manual, and parts diagram for your Tornado, which is the same exact machine as the Powr-Flite model PF2030:

If you have any follow up questions, please don't hesitate to ask using the add a comment form here on the Fixya repair page. If you have any problems ordering from them directly, feel free to contact us, and we'd also be able to provide any parts for you.

Dirt Devil M086700 Wide Glide upright suction problem

Hi,

These new fangled Hepa filters get clogged up pretty easy and when there's no place for an outlet of air there is no suction going into the clear basket.

You're right. Best way to clean these things is to bang them upside down outside on some concrete or another hard surface until there is no more dust coming out. You can replace them and eventually it comes to that.

The hose that leads up from the suction bed housing has a tight turn in the bottom area and this can collect something large that then collects smaller and smaller. The hose can be disconnected from the bottom unit and it may take a straightened coat hanger to clear out whatever may or may not be in there.

To be sure you have a tight seal just see that the plastic can is seated firmly at the bottom and the top locks in place. The gasket does its job once there is good airflow and the vacuum will do the rest.

Any questions or need for clarification just comment back to me below and I'll get back to you as soon as I can.

Regards,
Worldvet

Low suction

Is the water seal in place or missing? Another cause would be a bad motor, running at a slower speed will mean low suction. If it is a motor, then you would have to replace it. Is the suction low at machine without the hose, if it is ok then may be a clog in the hose.
