After you turn off the tv it almost will not come back on. You cannot use the remote and have to spend your time in the floor pushing the channel up button and power button simultaniously until it makes a loud popping sound and then it pops again and the screen comes on. This process is becoming longer and longer and more and more aggrevating@!!!
At one point a tech said the processor would need to be replaced is this the issue now? or what can be done???

Re: difficul to turn on
If it is making a loud poping, there is a high voltage leak probably and most likely at the high voltage transformer which is the 3 inch square white device with the large red wire coming out of it. With someone turning on the set on someone looking in the back with the back off you will see the arc of high voltage. Also look up under back in further where the tubes are (three) and look for the arc. But is most likely on the transformer. Common problem is the transformer and must be changed by trained person.

i would suspect your control buttons on your front panel on the set have become shorted. specifically the volume buttom down. This is freezing you control functions. like someone is holding the volume down button all the time. or intermitantly. this cuircit board is on front of the set. I have seen this problem a few times at the shop. The common repair is to replace that button assembly cuircit board. I believe the last time it cost the customer around 85 dollars, but like all things depends on the part and the technician that puts it in.
The set may have defaulted to a front panel lockout. To defeat that on the front of the set hold down the MENU button for 15 seconds and see if it will then power up. I know that doesn't solve the problem with the remote but one step atta time. These sets are prone to leaky switches on the control panel and when that happens the micro cannot accept two different commands at the same time. That could be why the remote is not working.
Out of 30 years in the repair field, I have seen this problem maybe 4 times. Once was a stuck button on the keypad of the tv. The other time was a second remote control with a book sitting on it and it would turn the tv on and off when someone would move something on the coffee table, another time was a bad solder connections on the microprocessor on the keypad circuit board and the last time was from a humorous neighbor in an apartment complex who thought he was funny who had an all in one remote control programmed for his neighbor's tv set.
