I have a brother all in one MFC 685 CW &having problems printing

Not sure where you found the recommendation to use Windex on your print heads but chemicals should be avoided. It sounds like you have damaged so of the head elements and now they are leaking. There are specialized fluids for cleaning print heads or plain old water will dissolve ink as well. Too late for you however if the heads have been damaged they will need to be replaced.

Printer is printing with a lot of lines

If the lines you are getting are white then you have clogged print nozzles. Typically the nozzles clog when old ink plugs up some of the nozzles on the print head. These nozzles can't spray ink onto the page and you end up with white lines. You would need to replace the print head but I would recommend you clean off your cap and wiper assembly first. If you don't and there is a bunch of old ink built up, you run the risk of clogging up the new print head and having the same problem.

Printer is having issues, prints documents like this (pic in details). Anyone know what may be wrong with it?

Print heads can get clogged causing lines and all other sorts of stuff. There is usually a setting to clean print heads in your printer tools.
There is also an alignment tool in your settings that is ideal for situations like this.
I've also found that sometimes if the quality is set too low like on draft for example. Lines may appear causing inconsistent prints.

When printing clip art, photos, etc. my graphics constantly have a series of evenly spaced lines crossing the art work. I can't find any printer head cleaning prompts. Even when I replace the ink...

Hmm, nozzles are blocked. Try Isopropyl Alcohol on a cotton tip or better still, a rag piece and run under the print head.
If this doesn't help, maybe this video will -

Lastly, the printer should have come with a program that can clean the print heads.

This evening I bought a new HP Photosmart C4780 printer. I am trying to print photos now and the photos are being printed with small vertical lines across the whole photo. How do I get rid of them?

> I bought a new printer

Take it back, and get one that does work correctly.

> VERTICAL lines ACROSS the whole photo

Hold the paper in "portrait" mode, not "landscape" mode.
Are the lines HORIZONTALLY-ACROSS the paper,
or VERTICALLY-DOWN the paper?

If those lines are WHITE and HORIZONTAL,
then some of the many ink-jets inside the print-head are *CLOGGED*.
Run a "print-head-cleaning-cycle" to try to unclog it.
Or, exercise the WARRANTY, and get it replaced.

Mystery Print Problem with Canon iPF8000

If it's within 12 months of purchase, Canon will replace free, although you may have to hound them a bit. This problem has occured twice (2 new heads) on our IPF8100 each time about 9 months in.

Faded text every few lines- Canon printer

When you print photos you print in Max dpi, for this no faded lines anywhere. Probably you have a problem only in black color in print head.
Мay be it's partially clogged or partially defective.

Horizontal colored lines through grayscale printed photos

Hi George,

It sound's like an ink-feed issue:

1) Dirty heads, even after cleaning
2) No-ink or poor quality ink
3) Damaged head: some are part of the cartridge, some are not
4) Air bubbles in ink

The test page is typically not as hi-res nor as saturated as a
photo print. The hi-res photo puts the greatest demand on the print head.

The color lines you see are actually lines of missing color,
where the head has failed to deposit ink, so one or two primary
colors are missing from the complete picture.

For example missing yellow will make a blue line.
Missing magenta will make a green line
Missing cyan will make a red line.... etc..

Clean the heads again and again, print again and again,
hoping to flush the system.

BUT, keep in mind that cleaning wastes huge amounts of
ink and tiny little cartridges of ink cost more than many new printers.

Printing lines

Hi. I've been looking for a solution to this very same problem, but I think that the only way to fix it is to replace the print head. I've spent a few hours now trying to find out if there is something else which could cause this problem, and the only one that applies to me (and to you, if you replaced all of your ink cartridges), is that the print head is no longer working. I found a print head for $50 at http://www.precisionroller.com/k_canon_i560_print_head/m114d5908c104/ , so I'll probably go that route.
