It is in "recovery" mode.
  • - unplug any other USB device that's attached other than keyboard and mouse
  • - turn off ipod and attach it to your system
  • - With IPT attached press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for at least 10secs until apple logo appears
  • - hopefully windows will recognize the IPT and you try and restore again.

You can download a FREE program called IBRICKR from
http://www.soft82.com/get/download/windows/ibrickr/
which will reset your ipod touch in approximately 15 secs without any messing around with Itunes and all of that. I have used it a number of times. I hope this helps and good luck.

umm.. download itunes that's how you load the music on the device, is that what you're asking?

connect the ipod usb cable to your computer and open itunes, it will restore your ipod.
