My dell inspiron 1300 wont connect to my tplink

Do you have the driver installed correctly.From a command prompt if you type ipconfig do you get a 169 .ip address if so windows is assigning a ip address to the adapter.Remove the card from the computer,Uninstall the drivers and softtware, reboot.Once windows have come up make sure the drivers and the software are uninstalled.Shut windows down again reinstall the card once windows is up reinstall the drivers and hardware.Make sure to let windows manage the adapter and not the software that came with the adapter.
