Dell optical mouse quit working

All of a sudden my optical mouse quit working. I tried rebooting and have checked all the cables, but still no luck. Did my mouse just die?

My dell mouse just stopped working. It doesn't matter what USB port I have it plugged in. I purchased me the logitech cordless desktop keyboard and mouse but I cannot get it to work either. What is wrong with this? I finally had to buy just a cordless mouse to be able to use my computer. I am getting so frustrated with this. Help!!!!

My mouse for no apprearant reason quit working

    I found the solution!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    I had the same
problem and I had an idea of what it was and sure enough i was
right......Check your updates/installs from microsoft. Look for "Update
for window Vista (KB938371)"....this update will disable your mouse! If
its installed you cant uninstall it by going into control pannel and
uninstalling it. The way I found to get rid of it if its installed is
to do a "Restore Point". Restore to an earlier date. You may have to
"restore" a day or two earlier from when it was installed. I tried a
"restore point" on the same day but an hour earlier, didnt work...took
me two days prior (restore) for my mouse to work again. Dont forget to
turn off "automatic update" so as it doesnt install again and your back
to this. Im going to spread the word as much as possible and contact
Microsoft of this, hopefully they put out an update for this B.S. I
went through a lot of research to figure this out and a lot of trial
and error, please pass it along

This might sound very obvious, but have you replaced the battery?

Have you tried resetting the mouse and the USB receiver?

USB mouse not recognized

I have similar problem. 2 inland KVM's (both have PS2 inputs, one has USB outputs) do not light or recognize my usb mouse with a PS2 adapter. They do recognize a PS2 ball mouse on the KVM's however. One of the computers (Sony vaio 1.5 GHz) does recognize a usb mouse with adapter on 2 other KVM's (Old Belkin and a Trendnet) (the second computer I have not tried in those configurations). Next I will try an optical mouse with a PS2 fitting. That did work with a fifth KVM at an auto business last week.
