My camera is not starting,shows that needs new

Take a pencil eraser and gently clean the battery contacts, as well as the new battery. Probably oil (from your skin) came off the batteries (did they leak?), and contaminated the contacts. using the pencil eraser will allow you to GENTLY poke down the cavity where batteries go and try to clean contacts.

If you are using nicd batteries, most devices will show a lower charge vs. a set of alkaline batteries. Most devices dont care. Those that do, just dont use nicd or nimh batteries in them.
