Hello nearly the same Problems often exists on Hewlett Packard ZD8000 Lines on the screen is often Problem or defect on LCD Hardware new LCD solve the Problem on the other side often problem with vga chip is bad oder memory of vga chip is not dedected and gives problem or serveral stripes or Picture failure on screen to solve the problem find an firm who repair vga chip or chance Mainboard

You will need to see a Toshiba stockist for these items Fixya do not sell products for these.
It will be the graphics card so just replacing this will fix the problem.

If they are vertical it means that the pcb board at the top of the lcd is defective and the lcd needs to be replaced

Vertical lines in my laptop screen
My understanding is that you have 2 laptops with the same problem, if that is the case, you need to replace the lcd. When you have lines on lcd's, that is a sign of a bad lcd.

could be 2 main causes, either the LCD converter under or behind the screen under the beizel has failed and is messing up the display, or simply the sreen could have been cracked at one point, either way these parts have to be obtained from toshiba..
