Question about Canon PowerShot SD800 IS / IXUS 850 IS Digital Camera

Defective memory card?

I just bought this and it will only take about 8 pictures before it tells me the memory card is full. I re-formatted it but it did not help. Any suggestions?

Re: Defective memory card?

Usually cameras will only come with a small amount of memory either built into the camera, or a small memory card.

its not uncommon to have only 4-10 pictures on this type of starter memory.

To get more photos you will have to purchase a larger memory card.

Why am I getting a "memory full" error when my memory card is not full?

Try formatting the card with the camera menu. This is always safer when you buy a new card. If that doesn't work take the card back

Camera works oddly..

Format the card again.

The memory card should be formatted each time you finish transferring your pictures to your computer, in order to avoid exactly this type of situation.

I've had the Samsung L200 with the same Panasonic 1GB memory card for the last 3 years and it's been great, but all of a sudden today it started saying 'memory full' after only taking a few...

The camera is telling you that the internal memory is full. To get your card to work, you must clear it. With no card in the camera, go into the menu and find "format" and follow the on-screen instructions to erase the internal memory. Then, your card should work unless you formatted it in the computer, in which case you'll have to format (completely erases it) it in the camera.

I have a PowerShot A590 IS. I did try to format the memory card. I can take 7 pictures, then it says the memory card is full. How do I change the setting so I can take lots of pictures?

Are you sure it's saying the memory card is full? It may be telling you the internal memory of the camera is full. It's very small and only holds about 7 pictures.

New memory card bought. When inserted into camera it say memory is full.

Your camera is probably telling you that the internal memory is full. With no card in the camera, go into the menu and find "format"...follow the on-screen instructions. Then, do the format thing again with your new card.

My samsung s1030

An 8gb memory card to too large for your camera. It can't handle the large space on an 8gb memory card. If I'm not mistaken the s1030 can only go up to a 2gb memory card.

Memory Full Error

You need to format the SD memory card using the camera format function. The manual should tell you how to do this. If you don't have the manual, you can download it from the samsung website.
