Question about Frigidaire FSC23F7DSB Stainless Steel Side by Side Refrigerator

Maytag refrigerator, Model MSD2454GR

After I properly installed a new PuriClean filter, the water dispenser does not dispense water; although the crushed ice and ice cube dispenser works.

One solution states that the water line in the door is frozen. If so, how do I access the water tube?

    Ice maker works but ice builds up on the rotating fingers and eventually jams. If I chip it off, it will work again for days or weeks. Ice cubes are generally normal size, occasionally some "hollow" ones but mostly all good. Maytag MSD2454GR

Your best bet is to shut the unit down for a while and let it defrost. You've probably got your box set too cold. 0-5 degrees on freezer...38-42 on fridge side. If your unit is not digital, use a regular outdoor thermometer, close the door for half an hour and then open to read it. Adjust accordingly. If too cold...you're using too much energy, too.

I understand the correct manufacturers number for the PuriClean II water filter for your refrigerator should be UKF8001 or UKF8001AXX, that you have the correct filter, and you have plenty of water out of the dispenser when the filter is not installed. If all that information is accurate you have 30 pounds or more water pressure (although the minimum is 20 pounds the higher the pressure the better for flow will be), then I would try holding the filter under the faucet to be certain the water flows through the filter without a lot of resistance. If that checks out, I would look for a gasket or some other part from the old filter that is stuck in the filter housing.

Bought a new Maytag side by side. Will not put out water. Tried the 5 sec on and 5sec off to flush the air out, still didn't work. What next?

First off you need to make sure the freezer door is CLOSED and water filter is properly installed in the filter housing. Without a model number I can not tell you the exact location of the filter. There is a water lock out function of the water filter housing that will prevent proper water flow until the filter is installed correctly or removed completely. Also... there is a water tank / reservoir that has to be filled completely with water before you will see any water at the spigot. Please pass your model number so I can better assist you or call the Maytag Sercive Center so they can walk you through the initial set up procedure of your refrigerator. - After connecting the refrigerator to water source or replacing the water filter, flush the water system. Use a sturdy container to depress and hold the water dispenser lever for 5 seconds, then release it for 5 seconds. Repeat until water begins to flow. Once water begins to flow, continue to press and release the dispenser bar (5 seconds on, 5 seconds off) until a total of 3 gal. (12 L) has been dispensed. This will flush air from the filter and water dispensing system, and prepare the water filter for use. Additional flushing may be required in some households. As air is cleared from the system water may spurt out of the dispenser.
- Make sure the dispenser is not locked. Some models have a lock feature that deactivates the dispenser levers and control buttons. The lock button is on the dispenser front cover. This feature controls unintentional dispensing during cleaning. Press the Unlock or Locked button to reactivate the dispenser levers and allow dispenser function. You may need to hold the button for 2 to 3 seconds.
- If there has been a recent power outage or the power supply has been off for more than one hour, the power outage indicator (on some models) will disable the dispenser function. The dispenser display will read "PF" to indicate power failure. To use the dispenser, press and hold the "Reset" button for 3 seconds until you hear the beeps.

-A clogged or incorrectly installed water filter will reduce the water flow to the water dispenser. Check for a problem with the filter by removing the filter and operating the dispenser. If water begins to flow, then the filter is either clogged or incorrectly installed. A clogged filter will need to be replaced.

If the filter is clogged and you are not able to immediately replace it, leave the filter out so the water system is in bypass mode. With the filter removed, the water system will continue to operate, bypassing the filter, and the clogged filter will not cause slow water dispensing. However, in order to have filtered water, you will need to install a new filter.

The information above should get your water working. If not please listen for a solenoid buzz as you actuate the water in door function. No buzz either the dispenser is locked off or.... you have a valid warranty claim.

Water dispenser nozzle forms black slime once in awhile. I use an external refrigerator filter. Does internal holding tank need to be sanitized once in awhile?


if you don't use water enough and your filter is a good one . algi could form in the water holding tank . i think you should remove the filter and flush system . then add an new filter . should correct the problem . if you flush it good .. mm .

When water dispenser is pushed the water supply line rattles and very little water comes out. The water supply line has good pressure and the ice maker works. I also changed the filter.


Our water dispenser will work for about half a glass then the pressure immediately stops and the water flow goes to a small stream. Maytag MDZ2667HES Wide by Side. HELP! Filter was changed approx 3 months ago.

Water dispenser makes noise


sounds like your problem is a drop in water pressure on the water department side. is your facuets good? have water company come out (should be no charge if city water) and put a pressure gauge on outside of house.
