Re: Print Cartridge wont fit back on properly

Take the print cartridge out. Close the lid and turn the unit on...the carrier will go the the left and buzz (finding home position) . lift he lid, look at the back of you print cartridge and you will find a little silver ball. rotate this until it is at the top (12 oclock) put it back in the machine and close the mechanism...firm but not too hard, it should click...close the lid and it should home out should see the printwheel move...that should do it.

My typewritter wont impress even on hardest impression setting. I think the Ribbon might not be turning eventhough it looks like it is.

If it sounds like it is hitting the paper puy in a multi part form if the copy is OK then you have a ribbon problem, put in a new ribbon.
If there is no print on copy be sure the print wheel is properly latched in place.

My typewriter turns on fine, but when I go to type, nothing comes out. The ink cartridge is new, but still does not type.

Be sure the print wheel is properly installed and latched in place. Type on a milti part form if the carbons are good yoy have a ribbon problem.

Replaced cartridge on IBM wheelwriter 5.Won't type now.

If the print hammer isn't hitting the printwheel and platen the plastic print solenoid cap is probably broken. We sell them with shipping ans instructions for 20.00.

I changed the new ink cartridges, but it doesn't work,

First make sure you are placing the right
color cartridge into the right slot.
Most Printers are touchy about the
installation of ink cartridges. If the
instructions say to press the cartridge
into the slot until you hear a loud click,
that's what they mean. If at first you
don't succeed, remove the cartridge and
reinsert it into the slot again and press
on it hard till it clicks.
Then your printer should work properly.
Hope this is of some help. Bud

Trying to install ribbon and correction tape which goes first and how

Hi there.

Lets start with ribbon ( the black plastic cassette). You need to place the cartridge on the carrier, engaging the back of the cartridge first.

Press the cartridge into place. Guide the ribbon between the print wheel and the paper path. Turn the drive wheel ( small blue or orange dial) in the direct of the arrows (counter clockwise) to take up any slack.

Here is the USER MANUAL page for you along with some pictures.

Kind regards,

Smith Corona PWP90 corrector cartridge problem

sounds like the corr tape doesn't have the proper tension on it. turn wheel on corr tape cartridge, or if there isn't a wheel, some don't, there is a little lever to the left and under the left side where the cart. fits down. push this until the arm on the right side moves to the left

Daisy wheel will not stay on wordsmith 100

CHANGING Changing The Ribbon Cassette 1) Move the print carrier to the center of the platen using the SPACE or BS key. 2) Hold the ribbon cassette on both sides and lift up the front portion (where the ribbon is exposed) to remove the cassette. 3) To insert a new cassette, place the back end of the cassette on the cassette holder on the carrier and gently press down on the front of the cassette unit it clicks into place. 4) Turn the ribbon feed knob counter-clockwise again to take up any slack in the ribbon. 5) Presss the CODE + = (SETTING) key.

Changing The Print Wheel 1) Move the print carrier to the center of the platen using the SPACE or BS key. 2) You will see a lever on the right side of the carrier. Pull this lever toward you and lift out the daisy wheel. 3) Place the daisy wheel into the slot with the characters facing the platen. 4) Push the lever back into position. 5) Press the CODE + = (SETTING) key.
It appears as though you have something that is preventing the print wheel from being locked in place by the release lever. It should make a snapping or similar noise when it is locked down.
