Hotpoint side by side Model HSS25GFPJWW

I have a 2 yr refrigerator that makes ice, but when you push the ice dispenser the light dims and neither crushed or cube ice comes out. the water will dispense but no ice. The dim light with gradually get brighter as it would normally if it was dispensing ice. Any idea as to what the problem would be?

We have the exact problem with the same model # and about the same age!. The first thing we did was check the shoot. We took the ice tray out and emptied it so it could start with a new batch of ice and that didn't work either. The ice dispenser has been broken now for 4 months or so. Now the water dispenser is starting to die too. The light gets dim and sometimes we get water and sometimes not.

We have the same problem with this model...What gives? Somebody has to have this figured out...any answers?

  • jdod Jun 20, 2008

Same - think it is the control board output.

my problem seems to be exactly the same as srsjf's. i don't have any noise coming from the ice maker area when i put a glass against the arm to get ice and the light dims. it makes ice fine as the compartment is full of ice and no blockages. the water works fine and the light is bright. i checked the motor area and vacuumed the area good.

We have the Hotpoint side by side Model HSS25GFPJWW. We have had it for 2 1/2 years. Last year the water would sometimes dispense and at other times it would not. For 3 weeks now, the ice
will not dispense. As stated in other problems, it makes plenty of ice. We have also emptied the ice and let it start over, but it still will not dispense ice. Is the control board, listed in the solution, easy to put in or will it take a professional? Where is it located?
    THANKS!

Your problems are the power board for sure. I have the same refrigerator and have read dozens of forums and advise pages looking for answers. If you let the problem countinue your fridge will completely stop cooling and all your food will be trash as has happened to me.

Symptoms: Fan in the back starts to make click or flopping sound as it tries to start up. Ice despenser doesent despense ice. water works sometimes. Eventually you notice your food defrosting partially and then refreezing as the defrost timer stops working which is controlled by the power board. Light dims and pulses when you hold the Ice despencer in. If you remove the light for the dispencer your water will work fine as long as the fan isnt making the clicking noise. Fan will eventually start up and run.

FYI GE customer Care is useless

I have the problem with my water not dispensing but the ice does. What I've found works is this: Dump all ice into a container and put into freezer. Take out the icemaker and let it sit out in the sink overnight (at least 12 hours). Put it back into the freezer and then the water will dispense again. I think that the water line freezes up on it. I guess you could try the same thing for the icemaker not working. My icemaker also continues to make ice when full so I just turn it on for a day and then turn it off until I need more ice.

The water is not working, but ice dispenser is, the make number hss25gfpjww

Clogged water filter or faulty water valve. You have a dual water valve on that unit which explains why the ice maker is working and not the dispenser.

hi there

you should let an electrician have a look at that because the lights that dim only means that there is a grounded wiring somewhere inside your fridge. what you can do is just look for an open wire. thats it. apparently, you could d this yourself, but be careful. hope this helps

Ice maker for Model HSS25GFPJWW

Probably, but sometimes frost builds up in them and makes them unable to turn. They are gear reduction motors so you may not be able to turn it by hand, but if you take the ice container out, hold the door open, the door switch closed and press the ice dispenser and try to turn it whichever direction it's trying to go, you may be able to free it up. If that doesn't work you'll most likely need a new auger motor.

Ice maker not working

The icemakers won't make ice if the temperature is not below a certain set point. Varies between manufacturers. Try making the temp colder.

Clicking, no water or ice, power problem?

first i wold check the micro switch that the acuator paddle trips next i would replace the watervalves which is the most likely cause of this finally id replace the control bd as some early ges had a promblem with this there is also a solinoid in there for opening the ice chute door but that wouldnt affect the water but may cause a voltage drop if its getting bad id change the water valves the ice is on one valve the door water is on the other
