You have to make sure that you have service pack 2 install in your computer...and also i would recommend you to get the latest windows media player upgrade...The upgrade should contains the driver you need for your device...

I would recommend you to go to the the device manager to unintall it..open windows media player go to tools, options, privacy and clear the history and caches..after that you can plug your device to your computer...windows should recognize the device properly if that doesnt do it..let me know...

So basically windows doesnt recognize it at all even though you plug it in..Have you tried a different port...if thats the case there is something wrong with your computer USB...its not the device since its able to work well in other computers...Is your computer able to recognize other usb devices?

I would recommend that you go to www.microsoft.com and get all available update for your computer...it sounds like there isnt anything wrong with the device..its your computer usb port..

Printer is connected via USB to a Win XP PC and prints fine. However will only print test print from networked Vista laptop?

I take it you the Win XP PC is on the same network that your Vista Laptop is on and that some how you must be able to share the printer through your XP PC?
I think you are experiencing the many issue that Vista has to offer.
Maybe think of actually seeing about placing the printer on a Network print server. This would solve your issue. I did this with my Brother Laser printer and it works great. I believe the print servers are coming down in price I am using a TRENDnet TP100 and it works great with my two wired network desktop PCs and the two wireless notbooks that both have Vista on them.

test both machines one at a time on the monitor without the kvm switch then hook up the kvm switch to machine A if all works well power off then hook up machine B and see what happens, it maybe that the switch is set to the other pc than the one you want to use first so the screen stays black untill its switched over

Lost contact between PCs connected via AP

Set all the PC's to have a manual IP rather then using the DHCP from the router.
Also set the Gateway and Preferred DNS on the network cards to the routers IP (IE 192.168.0.1)

F5D7230-4 Router won't support >1 wired ethernet connections

My first suggestion would be to shutdown the modem, router, and XP PCs. Then power up the modem, router, then PCs (in that order) pausing about 20 seconds between powering each unit.
Good luck.
