My HP psc 1210 all in can print with vista but I can't change the print preferences or use the scanner. IUt appears I need a new driver which I can't locate on www.hp.com

Have you tried "automatically detect products" at the hp website? If so, and no sucess, check at Microsoft.com for compatability.

Hi i just found this information on the HP website.
A full feature software and driver package for Windows Vista is not available for your product. However, the Windows Vista operating system installed on your computer contains a basic driver solution for your product.
