Help

my mp3 player will not charge with my chord. but we used the same chord on my sisters same model and hers charges. the screen was also frozen on the hour glass screen before it went dead. i decided to switch to this mp3 player because it was supposed to be better but it is not working out i used all of the percausions that the manual says to use and it still messed up. plz help me with this issue.
