Intermittent fault; stops and starts throughout the cycle

I have an Intermittent fault with braun 18" dishwasher, it fills with water the control panel lights up it then chugs away for a few minutes and then just cuts out, lies dead for a bit and then bingo comes to life again. I have no idea how long this has been going on as only noticed it over xmas break. It can take 5 hours to complete a cycle.

check this out. I suspect loose connection on relay pin at back of pcb. Try tapping near the buttons and see if you can re-start it even for a second. This is how i isolated problem to the pcbs in the control unit. I have the loose pin with solder blown off - I just need a new soldering iron to fix it. If you not able to tackle yourself, will do it for you, or replace with a reconditioned board for reasonable charge.

It is a common fault that the drain fails to work in most machines in a period of time and is the most problematic fault in a washing machine. In all occasions it is important that your observation is most important and so is vital to the identification /rectification and solution. If there is intermittent power to the drain valve/pump then the program controller unit is a suspect. Also if the Inlet valve is staying OPEN and the drain pump is working as soon as the machine is switched on then it can be fault in the controller unit.

Will not start cycles

is it doing the initial pump out then filling with water and stopping b4 the wash cycle? if so it may be that the wash motor has failed(you may hear a buzzing) or the pcb is faulty. if the water does not fill into the base there may be a valve fault of a supply fault. any engineer worth his salt should be able to diagnose this fault on first visit and return with a part so dont expect multi visits.

Intermittently Operating With Little or No Water

Most likely the water level detector (the sensor that tells the dishwasher to stop taking more water) is failing. It is giving early signals which confuses the dishwasher and it turns water off. Most of the time these problems are linked to grime collecting in the inside of dishwasher.

You can clean it by using a dishwasher cleaning powder. Follow instructions on satchet. YOu may have to manually fill the dishwasher before starting it. If this cleaning does not fix it, then you may have to call the technician. You may be under warranty on this (hopefully)

Bosch SHU3036UC/U11 dishwasher does not stop filling with water

It sounds as if the main program board has developed a fault - as it should come to a complete stop. The fact it kept the water valve open with the door open is a serious fault- so I would have it checked before using it again.

Most machines have a water-stop feature - so if it develops a leak - it will shut off the water. This clearly didn't happen.

Lower arm spinning slow/intermittent

running with the door open indicates another fault that could be dangerous unless you have bridged the catch for testing only, water should flow fast and forceful at all times that it circulates, through both spray arms at once, you have to look for blockages in the system, is the waste outlet pipe high enough, this allows the machine to fill adequately so it doesn't pump intermittently, i doubt very much this is an electrical problem hope i have helped a little

Dishwasher fault

If you have tried to run any cycle and still end up with this problem, then most likely a failed timer unit. The next step is for the water switch to enact the next step which is to start the timer.
