Re: problem in hard disks

You cannot repair the hard disk. But if the data on the disk is very very important, you try to recover the data from the hard disk, this recovery is not hundred percent.

First and foremost backup your data if possible. Then if you have bad sectors on the hard drive you might try and run hdd regen. it is free and can get it from HIRAN'S BOOT CD 15.2. IT HAS SAVED MY TAIL MANY TIMES OVER.

Hard disk sector problems

Yes, and maybe.

How's that for a clear, concise answer?

When using the Restoration Disk, or a fresh new Installation Disk; if there are bad sectors you will be advised that CHKDSK, is about to run. (Or instructed to use CHecKDiSK, and how)

CHKDSK will then see if there are good sectors that it can move info over to, OR; you will be advised that you have an irreparable hard disk. (Harddrive)

Reformatting is using the Restoration Disk, or Full Installation disk; and when asked choose Full Install.
(Destructive Installation)

Do NOT click on Format in ANY other way.

USE the Restoration Disk, or Full Installation disk.

(Otherwise you will wipe the harddrive clean, and you do NOT want to do this)

Can someone please help me with BOOTMGR is missing Press Ctrl + Alt + Del to restart?

To fix this try first to see if this is not an issue of teh hard disk being changed from ide compatible to sata raid check that ..take a look in the bios and try to change it from raid to non raid or ide compatible and restart to see if it works ..If it does this might been the issue ..for not finding the boot files..but if it is not working and you know for sure that you did not default the bios lately .. leave it like you found it ..and download teh operation system you use in an image fil;e from the internet .. burn it on a disk .. and boot from disk to repair it or reinstall it .. cause this is the only way .. The missing files are crucial for the system starting ..
So either you choose to repair ..and will ask for a command and teh command will be <fixboot> and yes .. and after that reboot and yes.. or reinstall it from the start and this is all ..
remember if you planing to repair it will still hold the virus that caused the boot file to be lost and may do the same ..and if you you still want to repair you need teh exact same windows to download and burn .. The procedure is download it from a torrent site or so in image format .. and burn it at a low speed using Nero (on a dvd ) ..
Let me know what you have managed to do .. and please rate my answer

My Dell Dimension 2400 refuses to load Windows XP

What happens?Does it hang on the loading page or does it restart itself before loading?
If it hangs on the loading page, press CTRL,ALT and DEL.This boots the system.
If it restarts itself, remove the hard disk and re-fix it again.Problem solved?
Remove the CMOS battery and the hard disk and re-fix them again.Problem solved?
If not,you may have to repair your operating system.
This how you do it:-
  • Remove your hard disk and enslave[fix it as a secondary drive] it on another machine with a good operating system.
  • Start the machine.Accept to run unnix[using two drives]
  • The machine will automatically detect your hard disk's failure on the operating system and repair the damaged files.
  • On completion and after Windows opens, turn off the machine and remove your hard disk.
  • Fix the hard disk now on your machine and start it.
Hope this helps.Thanks!

I am getting Disk Boot Failure Insert system disk and press enter

looks like the software installed on your hard drive has been damaged

if you have recovery disk, try booting from it and try to repair windows. if you have valuable data on the hard drive, have a technician connect the drive to another working computer to copy the contents.

the technician may have to reformat and reinstall the window operating system and drivers for your computer.

hope the above helps. good luck.

Looks like your hard drive has got corrupted. Try installing yor hard disk as slave to another computer and then run checkdisc and scandisk, if scandisk can rectify it, good then you can load it on your PC too. If the Hard disk does not het repaired by that or by using NORTON SYSTEM WORKS 2004, which has the ability to correct logical bad sectors. Otherwise its physically damaged, better to replace it..........sodeep

Hard drive failure in system less than 2 years old!!

Since you are comfortable with working inside your computer, the best thing to do now is to purchase an external enclosure for your type of hard drive, SATA or EIDE.

Alternately you can use a live linux cd, boot up with that, and transfer your data to an external drive.

Once your data is safe, try booting to the Windows cd and attempt a repair installation.

And finally, yes, hard drives can go bad in 2 years or less.

How can you tell if your hardrive is damage? i have a toshiba satellite m50 laptop. I also want to know if the hardrive is calculated in percentage. I took my laptop to get it repaired and i was told that...

try using the basic utilities that are on the computer. disk clean up and scan disk. Scan **** should give you the info on how bad your hard drive really is. And yes any electrical connections installed improperly could cause harm.

Error reading hard disk

Here is a Microsoft solution:;en-us;315265
To enter DOS mode, restart the computer and tap F8 (may be different on yours) that brings you to Safe Mode Options. You want to select command prompt and follow the above Microsoft instructions. Its a good idea to print it out. If none of this works, the hard drive needs repair by service people.
