The top (monochrome) LCD on our Nikon D80 recently broke. I think that it is actually called the "Control Panel," and displays settings, battery life, number of pictures remaining, etc. Please note that this is not the 2.5" color LCD on the rear of the camera. I know that it is merely the LCD because the backlight works, as does portions of the LCD display itself. Does anyone know of a guide or video to perform this repair? Also, does anyone know the part number? I plan to call Nikon tomorrow. Thank you in advance for any help.
Hi Jason. First of all, depending on the age of your camera and the warranty you purchased, this camera may be under warranty which would result in Nikon fixing it for free.
Here is a free downloadable manual for your camera http://www.nikonusa.com/pdf/manuals/noprint/D80_noprint.pdf
If you make the repair yourself you will void any and all warranties on your Nikon so definitely talk to Nikon first. Good luck with it.

When pressing the shutter release button two different event occur: 1. either the battery shows drained battery even though battery is freshly charged. Camera is frozen. 2. upon pressing the release button display shows a flashing "F" and camera is frozen. It happens randomly and with several independent users. This problem occurred with D70 and D80. I need to turn off camera several times before I can use it again. Nikon admits problems with suppliers but is not helpful otherwise.

My D80 doesn't read the F anymore. I don't know if the problem is on a lens or on the camera. I have my 18-55 for which the F won't work, and today my 50 mm stoped working too! However my 70-200 still work... what's going on?
