Re: PC slow while printing

When printers are being used it requires a lot of memory especially for larger files.

my first suggestion is to get more memory, however to validate that it is the problem press ctrl alt delete and go to the system monitor to see the ram usage during the printing, if its maxed out then you know its 100% needs more ram.

in the short term you can increase manually the virtual memory of xp so it uses the harddrive as temporary memory to make printing faster

good luck

Can I install microsoft office 2007 home and student on my computer with windows xp and 248mb of ram

You should have at least 256 MB of RAM to run Office 2007. It might run with 248 MB (did you mean to type 2048?), but it will be very slow; you would have to be very patient.
You can use Windows XP, you just have to make sure you're running at least service pack 2.

If you really only have 256MB of Ram then that would be the first thing to change. I would upgrade to at least 1GB of RAM for XP. There are also many unnecessary services that are loaded on start up. You can find many tips on speeding up XP by shutting down services you don't need.

The memory increase should make a big difference.

Takes long time to start up

For XP, it is recomended to have at least 1 GB of RAM to run it properly. It will run with a minimum of 512 MB of RAM, but very slow.
