Water dispenser not working

Ice maker is working fine but water dispenser has just decided to stop working, not so much as a drip coming out, and its not locked and there is water all the way to the joint in the bottom of the fridge, so it must be after it runs up the side of the door, could it be frozen or is it the switch valve.

Re: water dispenser in my fridge only works for a while then stops: however if I take the filter out then re-insert it, it will work for a few hours then stop. I have changed the filter twice and still the problem continues.

My Fridge is about 6yrs old and the water dispenser was working well until recently. .

Hi, I have a Kenmore Elite Refrigerator model #596.76253702 that leaks water from the bottom every time the ice maker refills. The problem keeps getting worse since I purchased this product 2 years ago.

If it overfills and drips, look for an adjustment behind the plastic endcover with a +/- on it. - is less water.
If it continuously drips, replace the water inlet valve on the back where the house water supply comes in.

Ice maker water not stopping
The water inlet valve may be staying open. You can swap the wires on the dual water inlet valve and disconnect the water line at the valve which goes to the ice maker. When you try the water dispenser the water will come out there. When you stop the water dispenser, if the water at the valve doesn't stop, the valve isn't closing so you'll need to replace it. If it does stop after trying it several times then the problem is with the ice maker.

My ice maker quit making ice the other day. I finally got under there and checked everything out and it all seems ok. The problem looks like there is no water coming in from the supply line. Why would...

Try swapping the wires on the dual water inlet valve. Then try the water dispenser. The water should go to the ice maker. This will tell you weather or not the ice maker valve is working and if the line is clear.

When your ice maker dumps and refills with water it will come out the water dispenser with the wires swapped. If it doesn't then I would have to blame it on the solenoid.

If the lines are the same size you can also swap them around to do this check.
Water inlet Valve

You can disconnect the line coming out of it and try the water dispenser to see if the valve is working. If it's getting power it should click when you try it and water come out.

The water inlet valve on the back of unit opens when the ice maker needs water. If the valve doesn't seal good because of sediment or wear it will continue to drip and when the water reaches the ice maker supply tube it will freeze blocking the fill tube.. You can take the water line off the valve and watch to see if it drips.

A strainer before the inlet valve can also get stopped up restricting flow.

The water dispenser and ice cube maker stopped working

Your water line could be frozen in the door. You can disconnect the line under the unit before it goes into the door at the bottom hinge. Push the dispenser button and see if it comes out there. If it does leave the door open till it thaws. Covering the opening with a blanket will prevent the loss of cold in the freezer. . GE makes a heater that will prevent this from happening again. The part number for this heater is WR49X10173.

disconnect the line to the water dispenser at the water inlet valve on the back where the water supply comes in and try the dispenser. if you hear the valve work but water doesn't come out, the valve is bad. If you don't hear the valve, the dispenser switch is bad
