Connect motorola modemsbSB6121 to Belink N600 wireless router with out losing internet signal

Step one turn on PC directly connected to ModemsbSB6121 without Wi FI router being involved.
Step two go to Command prompt type in ipconfig (press enter)
Step three note IP address of default gateway and ip address issued to P.C.
Step four type in default gateway address into browser and log into Modem.
Step five look for DHCP Server and allocate IP addresses from at least 50 for example starting ip lease ending ip lease
Step six connect Wi Router to P.C. via ethernet cable only - remove ModemSB6121
Step Seven shutdown and restart p.c
Step Eight go to Command prompt type in ipconfig (press enter)
Step Nine note IP address of default gateway and ip address issued to P.C.
Step Ten type in default gateway address into browser and log into Wi Fi Router
Step Eleven Change IP address on Router to 2 as example (it has to match in that modem device would have been 192,168.0.1)
(if it was make wi fi make sure subnet mask is the same like
Step twelve Change DHCP Server to off
Step Thirteen may need to set default gateway to MODEM IP address for example
Step Fourteen plug modem router into Wi Fi router may need to plug into WAN port on WI FI router .
Step Fifteen shutdown and Restart Computer
Step Sixteen go to Command prompt type in ipconfig (press enter)
Step Seventeen type in PING (if this is modem IP address and default gateway IP addess)
All this above is to avoid IP address conflicts or mismatching
Subnet mask should be
either it uses or it uses make sure Wi FI router is set to different address to Modem Router.
I suspect either a clash occurs or your P.C gets a different IP range from ther WI FI DHCP server.
Happy troubleshooting !

Wireless connection goes of then will not connect

I get that you was connect to the internet by wireless connection .
so in you connect with access point connected directly to dsl modem so try to restart the access point and try to connect again ...and reset the wireless in your device... may be it works .

I think this problem occur cause access point or DHCP server cant give your device new IP address..
so you must clean the DHCP leased addresses by restart the access point or enter to server and do that from DHCP .

else you can try to assign static ip address has the same network id with router ..
for example : if router ip is so you must assign ip address like :
192.168.1.x while x number between 2 and 254
hope that helps you

I'm using an SB5101 and trying to use a new wireless router with this modem, but the set up is saying I have a static IP address... where can I find that on my computer whil I'm using my old router? thanks

I have one, after finding out how reliable and well-made they are. However, they can be picky during setup, especially since they have a rare 'config IP' address (the number you type into your internet browser's address bar to change the modem's settings). Click here >>

Recently I subscribed ATT DSL Service conflict IP Address

the motorola modem that att is using uses 192.168.1.x subnet. log onto your router and change it to 192.168.b.x where b is any number between 2 and 254 (just not 1). You should also log onto the modem and change the setting that allows it to share the external ip address with the router. You will need to do this if you plan on accessing your network from the internet.

Ps3 key change timeout using westell 6100 modem on verizon

there might be a problem with the Linksys router, the Westell 6100 should be 1st set to bridge mode in order for your router to be connected to it. or there could also be a proble on the Verizon server.

Can't open port to uTorrent

virtual server also known as port forward, try to look for this phrase, if not u may also find some word with NAT or Nat table.
Anyway routers must have this function in general.

By the way, how did you make your ip static, manual from your mac or the routers'?

RCA Modem DCM315R

Just a bit of explanation. E0 interface is for inside network (LAN interface). E1 is for outside (ISP or WAN physical interface). Dialer1 is for PPPoE (the "actual"/logical WAN interface). The is ISP provided static IP address for the use of the server. This configuration example is for running FTP server, which uses the standard TCP port 20 and 21.

The LAN uses network with subnet for both servers and workstations. All servers within the LAN use static IP address. The router is configured as DHCP server to give out IP info (IP addresses, subnet mask, DNS) to workstations that are configured as DHCP client.

Basically I suggest that you deploy NAT (Network Address Translation) and PAT (Port Address Translation) to setup your own servers behind Cisco router. The NAT is used to translate the ISP's given static IP address to your local IP address. The PAT is used to translate TCP ports (the port 20 and 21) between the two IP addresses.

When using NAT/PAT, keep in mind that the Internet-accessible servers are seen from the Internet as their NAT/PAT-ed IP address (the Public IP address) and not the local IP address (not the Private IP address). This understanding is very important when you or someone need to test connectivity to the server and/or when you need to create filter (access list or ACL for short) to allow only certain incoming traffic from the Internet and block others.

Side Note:
For more info on NAT/PAT concept, check out the following FAQ
»Cisco Forum FAQ »NAT and PAT; Introduction and Implementations

Instruments used in this illustration are pretty much standard for running your own servers. Please note that IP addresses, username, and password are changed. However, you could always modify the configuration to suit your situation.

This sample configuration assumes that you have a block of IP from ISP. There is a dedicated Public IP address for the router WAN interface (the Dialer1 interface) and another dedicated Public IP address for the server PAT IP address. If you only have a single Public IP address for both router WAN interface and server PAT IP address, there are several ways to configure the router.

One way is to use the same command as shown in sample configuration.

view plaincopy to clipboardprint?
  1. ip nat source static tcp 21 21 extendable
ip nat source static tcp 21 21 extendable
This one configuration way is suitable when you have static IP address from your ISP and you know exactly what the IP address is. In this case you have the single static IP address for both the WAN interface and Public server IP address.

When you are unsure which IP address you receive from the ISP, or when your Public IP address keep changing; then another way to configure the static PAT is following

view plaincopy to clipboardprint?
  1. ip nat source static tcp 21 interface Dialer1 21 extendable
ip nat source static tcp 21 interface Dialer1 21 extendable
With situation of dynamic IP address, at some point you still need to know the exact Public IP address you receive from your ISP for server connection testing and production time. To find out, you can issue show ip interface brief command on the router. You will then see the associated WAN interface Public IP address.
