Question about Garmin StreetPilot i3 GPS Receiver

1 Answer

My GPS Unit does not say the leading decimal point in distance.

When I am driving, the voice gives the wrong distance when to turn. It says to turn left in 6 miles instead of .6. When I glance down and check the map, it correct. How do I fix this problem?

On chart page, depth numbers sometime have a subscript number to their lower right. What is that?

These are tenths of a meter. It is written that way to be clearer. Suppose the depth is 10.5 metres. If it were written as 10.5 the decimal point might not be clear and could lead to confusion so they put the decimal lower and to the right.

The distance for the trip in my favorite is wrong.

Sounds like you might have "off road" selected for your navigation preference. Shortest distance between 2 points is a straight line, or great circle for GPS units. As the crow flies will be shorter than a road route.

Garmin Nuvi 265 to get voice command to work?

this may require two sessions but - here goes:
1- turn the unit on - select the VOICE icon on the opening screen - triple check it isn't muted and change it to 90% voice volume.
If this doesn't give you sound WHILE DRIVING - it won't give you voice unless you're moving or driving.

Then - turn the unit off - Turn it back on- - as it is starting up - and blank- place your thumb in the LOWER RIGHT CORNER of the blank Screen.

this will open this window:
SELECT - YES - it will reboot and your minor settings will be lost - like saved address and favorites - not your updated maps.
This will reset you to default NEW -
When done - sound will be as it was when new if no sound - return for repair.

My garmin 750 doesn't identify the streets that i should be turning at.Just tells me distance when to turn.

Do you mean it is not speaking the street names? Have you selected a voice that uses the Text-to-speach (TTS) feature? From the main screen press, "Tools", then "Settings", then "Language." Next to the voices that will speak street names, you will see the (TTS) designation. Press one of these and the unit should tell you the street names.

Spoken directions do not give actual street names

Hello, Mike, congratulations on your purchase of the gps. Here's what you should do:

Choose Voice Profile. This button shows the current language of the voice guidance. By tapping the button, you can select a new one from the list of available languages and speakers. For the speaker to announce actual street names you must select a language that indicates TTS (Text-To-Speech).

To hear a sample voice just tap on any of languages. Tap OK when you have selected the new spoken language.

I used my 705 on my trainer and it did not record distance or speed like my forerunner does. The 705 works fine on the road

the Garmin Edge series rely on GPS to track your location from point A to point B thereby calculating your speed and distance. Its no different from any other GPS unit which require a clear view of the sky. It does not sense wheel movement, so using any GPS on a trainer will show no movement and using it indoors will give you a bad signal. The sensor on the crank used on the Edge 705 is only for cadence and not speed.

Why stopped voicing street names?

As far as I am aware, Streetpilot C330 doesn't call street names. Check this specifications sheet on garmin's website:

IF there is no route guidance it is because the unit is not receiving VSS information from the vehicle.  Confirm that you are getting the VSS info from the correct source and or use Rostra Precision Control's cruise control guide to confirm your VSS wire.
