Replacement of outer screen for a Toshiba TP50H60 projection tv

If the screen cracked from daily use and was not cracked on the outside of the set,then you are entitled to a replacement or to have the tv repaired under warranty from a manufacturing defect. If the outer glass panel is not damaged and the internal screen is,then call the manufacturer.

Projection TV sets are known to have two common problems. The first problem that is common to these sets is convergence failure. When this happens the TV will usually look 3D, Wavy/Distorted, etc. It may also shutdown and blink an error code.

The second common problem with Projection TV sets is dull video, halos around objects, white looking video, or red overpowers the screen. This is commonly caused by the fluid in the lens being clouded overs. To get fixed either call in a local TV repair company or goto sites such as Tv Repair Kits to get a repair kit with instructions. There are two screens involved here, the protective screen (outer) and fresnel screen (inner). You do not indicate which is cracked. I have listed the part numbers and costs from tritrinincsinc.com below:

protective screen - part number PS5001 Cost: $162.73 (no longer available)

You can check with local service centers for the protective screen as some may have one around in stock but it is no longer availabel from Toshiba.

you cant, the screens for that model are no longer available and even a used scree assembly will be over 200. if you could find a new one they would be about 4 to 500.00

My Toshiba TE55T11 also has a broken screen. I contacted the Toshiba hot line in Australia and they said that they don't make screens for this TV anymore. so i just got a new Toshiba 72CM9UA.

This is probably high voltage arcing from your flyback transformer, distro xformer, or cables. They need to be checked and cleaned, then the source of the arc needs some hi - q dope applied. This is 30,000 volts we're talking about, so be aware you could kill yourself if you don't know what you're doing ! !
