CPU usage very high, mouse very slow man

My mouse hardly moves. Initially i thought i had to get a new mouse. But i checked the CPU usage, and its quite high. I deleted some applications and i've got it down to between 50 and 60% Which is still quite high.

    Hi there,

I seem to have created another problem for myself. I disabled processes at start up, now i can't get access to the internet anymore. When i try to apply the normal start up processes, i get a message that i need to log in as an administrator first.

Hi,
you haven't mentioned whether your mouse started moving after you deleted the applications..
Anyway to lower your CPU usage, you can do the following...
1. Run 'msconfig' without the inverted comas in the run dialog box. ( start--> run )
2. Select the startup tab... you can disable all application at startup to load the system faster. or you can select the application that you thing is unnecessary. this needs a restart.
3. Next try to press Ctrl, Alt , Del at the ssame time to launch the task manager. First you will be seeing the application that is running. Go to the next tab that is the Processes tab. under this you will see all the processes that is running and utilsing how much resources . Below on the status bar of that window you will see the cpu usage... Now identify the processes that has the highest memory usage... right click and select end process tree. the process will be stopped. Remember not to end the explorer.exe process. Most resources is utilised by Anti-virus softwares like norton, also by web-browsing and graphics opertaions....

hope to get rated as fixya!!

regards
bzoy..

My mouse keeps sticking

is it a male or female mouse? "does it have a light or a ball"

To fix a ball type mouse
Remove the ball and clean the rollers with a pencil eraser

The light type mouse sticking is usually caused due to high CPU usage. To check this right click on the task bar and click start task manager. Then click performance. if your CPU is at 100% then that is why it is sticking.
I would start with a malware scan

My dell is too slow even if i am playing computer games. why?

Your Dell laptop has low RAM/high CPU usage, a lot of games tend to use high CPU, so your laptop could be a little old for newer games, so you should upgrade it, or you have a lot of files on your laptop and maybe you opened to much high CPU usage programs.

Computer is slow to open file when connected to network

when connected to a network the cpu performance get highe, check your cpu performance by press control alt and delete on your keyboard at the same time to go to windows task manager, see the cpu usage by clicking performance, if the cpu usage is above 50% it means that wasn't normal, run a virus scan to make sure that your windows is free from viruses, if it can't fix your problem it mean you need to reinstall your operation system

I get a norton warning that I have high cpu usage yet Im not running any programs. My computer is running slow and doing alot of clicking noises.I have 98% available free space on my hard drive and i...

1. Try disabling some of the Startup Programs.Press the "Windows" key on your keyboard and the "R" key at the same time. When the run dialog box comes up, type "msconfig" then press OK. The System Configuration Utility will open. Go to "Startup" tab, disable all startup programs, hit OK then restart computer.

2. Test if the computer still runs slow, if it doesn't try repeating the step 1, and re-enable the startup programs one by one or you can just check on the programs that you want to automatically start whenever you start Windows. These startup programs eats your computer resources which should have been used by the computer for processing instead.

3. If you hear clicking noises from the computer it might be the computer's Hard Drive. Download and run a Hard Disk test. You can download Hard Drive Utilities from here - click this link

4. If the Hard Drive test fails then we will need to replace the Hard drive. If it passes run a full system scan using your Security software. The computer might be infected by a virus/malware which causes slow performance.

Hope this helps.

Slow cursor

Either CPU usage reaches 100% to perform a disk operation or to read the Interrupt. Check the Event Viewer for Specific Errors. You can verify it using the Task or Process Manager. A Sudden increase of the CPU usage. Typically servers are configured to allocate the CPU for the Background Services. So it can happen. You should not change it.
The other things is your Mouse interrupts (IRQs) are not compatible with another Device such as a Network card you have. (Most probably a network card) That is a common issue. You have to check the compatibility of your Devices.
Other Scenarios:
Scan the System for Spyware.
Clean the mouse connectors.
Try booting into safe mode, getting into device manager, deleting the mouse drivers and rebooting will solve the issue as well.
Hope this will help. You can check the IRQs on the web. Please feel free to ask for further help.
Please rate the answer as well

Procesor usage upto 55% wen having opend single window

could point to both hardware and software issues..
but first check software issues. can be due to virus/spyware running.. check taskmanger and lists the processes by cpu % ... this will give you the process which is gobbling up the cpu cycles. make note of the file and track it down in hard disk. you will then have to research what it is for.

if you have a antivirus installled it may be possible that it is virus scanning the disc.

hope this helps

My computer moves slow from outta nowhere

Completely remove avg and re-install 8.5 see if that fixes the issue. Speed almost always has something to do with how much Ram you're running. Check your cashe' to be sure it's set high enough. Many anti virus programs are very comsuming of memory.

Good Luck
