Problem for Sony CFD-E100 Boombox

Sony CFD-E100 now only powers up on batteries

Bought approx 15 months ago, my CFD-E100 now only powers up on batteries. The 125V 3.15A fuse is OK. I assume a microswitch is no longer working. Can I short it out as I only want to use the boombox on mains? Or is there another solution? [OK buy a new one which is practically what Sony suggest!! :( ] Tks. Peter

The AC inlet needs to be replaced, there are bad solder connections on the PC board for the inlet, or the traces are cracked on the board. I have seen all of hte above over the years for these types of units. The power board can be puirchased for $28.11 using part number: A-1124-986-A from tritronicsinc.com.

I don't have the part number for the actual inlet at teh moment, but I'll try to locate that number for you as well. Check for poor solder connections or a cracked trace first and update this with the results.
