Question about Samsung RS2556 Side by Side Refrigerator

1 Answer

Noise I am not sure if it is a RS2556 but it looks like the one on the picture, in black with an ice dispenser. Anyway, the fan in the back of the fridge is very very noisy. When you open the door it stops, then starts up again when door is closed after 5 seconds. It is only just over 12 months old so cannot be old age yet!! It only happens when the fridge door is open, when you open the freezer door the noise continues. Help it is driving me mad. Thanks.

Re: Noise

Turn of the circuit breaker before doing this or plug out the power cord..
- check if the fan motor is not stuck up by touching the fan blade by your finger if it rotate freely. If stuck up full out the fan motor and put a little oil and rotate it manually until it turns freely.
- Check and rotate the fan blade manually and be sure that it is not mis align and not touching the fan blade frame.
- Check for loose bolts and screws that cause the fan motor vibration.
- Check for foreign object that obstructing the rotation of the fan motor.
- Check for defective bearing or bushing.

The water dispenser in our GE side by side fridge model gss25wsti made a loud grinding noise and stopped working Has anyone experienced this or have any suggestions

First the water dispenser will not make any grinding noise while dispensing water perhaps a hum. The grinding noise is from the auger motor which dispenses crushed ice ad ice cubes. So please check the intake valve at the rear of the fridge if its working, if not you may have to replace the intake valve. Or if that"s ok please check the control module on the door of the freezer.

My fridge is making a god awful noise... it's still cooling, but the noise is off and on and each time it comes back it's louder and louder.... any suggestions??

When do you hear the noise? What is the refrigerator doing when the noise comes back?

If it is when the compressor kicks on, I would check the mounting brackets for the compressor and make sure they are tight.

If it is a clatter then I would check the colling fans (top and bottom and make sure the blades are striking something.

Where you say it is getting louder and louder, I would check for ice buildup on the evaporator fan in the freezer section.

LG french door fridge - makes hideous noise - loose bearings? - whenever fan is running, which is several times an hour. Any idea what is causing it? Husband tried to grease the fan. It's really...

A broken fan blade can cause a noisy motor. or a buildup of ice can cause some noise. If thes aren't the case you will need to have the fan motor replaced.

Loud noise from freezer of GE model GSF25TGTB (Side by side)

Problems not related.  The first is most likely the fan, or possibly water dripping on to the fan and freezing, but usually the noise comes from the fan struggling to run.  The cube problem could be as simple as the ice dispenser being put back in wrong.  There is a metal lever under the ice tray that switches between crushed and cubed.  Make sure it is seated properly.

Samsung double door refrigerator/freezer is not holding the tempature in the refrigerator. When you attempt to reset the temperature and press "power cool" nothing... temp remains around 56 The freezer...

I just had (have?) this same problem. I called out the repair man and in the end he suggested that I buy a new fridge because of all the problems reported with my model (RS2555SL) on the internet. Anyway, after a while I heard what sounded like a fan trying to spin on the fridge side. I unplugged the unit, removed the inside back panel on the fridge side. The entire coils and the fan had iced over. I removed all the ice, plugged the unit back in and it is now working. I will still replace this unit because I probably only corrected the symptom but the problem remains.

Your problems are the power board for sure. I have the same refrigerator and have read dozens of forums and advise pages looking for answers. If you let the problem countinue your fridge will completely stop cooling and all your food will be trash as has happened to me.

Symptoms: Fan in the back starts to make click or flopping sound as it tries to start up. Ice despenser doesent despense ice. water works sometimes. Eventually you notice your food defrosting partially and then refreezing as the defrost timer stops working which is controlled by the power board. Light dims and pulses when you hold the Ice despencer in. If you remove the light for the dispencer your water will work fine as long as the fan isnt making the clicking noise. Fan will eventually start up and run.

FYI GE customer Care is useless

Freezer defrost all. RS2556

The most likely is that the door was not closed properly, this is very common on this model, what happens is that the door closes against the freezer contens and therefore appears closed, this allows warm air into the unit which starts to melt the ice, if this should happen again it is a good idea to completely defrost overnight with the doors open and then re start the next morning as ice often builds up behind the rear panel.
