Question about ATI RADEON® 9250, (128 MB) AGP Graphic Card

2 Answers

There is no red.

My computer is a P4 3.2G 1G Ram. Im running an ATI 9250. The colour red is gone and had been replaced by black. sometimes for 2-3 seconds the colour will be right but that happend maybe twice a week. I have all updated drivers for windows abd the card and have also tried rolling back drivers. The monitor's drivers are also up to date as of 3 days ago from microsoft. Monitor is a LG flatron L1510S

Any suggestions?

Re: There is no red.

It could be cable connection. if your using a VGA cable <15 pin> some times a wire breaks inside or is not making good connection to the vid card. It WILL drop one color. so in a pure red area it comes up black but the screen overall will look off or odd colored. The reason for this is the Blue and Green will still be there mixed and no red so the color balance is gone.. I have had a monitor do this. had to final replace it due to loss of red.. this is a uncommon but NOT rare problem in VGA cables . <in very rare cases the connector on the vid card breaks connection on the red/blue/green line so it ends up the card not the monitor or cable

Re: There is no red.

Sound like it could be a monitor problem.
Try hooking it to a different monitor and see if the problem persists.

IF you did, then you may need to reinstall the Operating system in order to get the ATI card working, the Nvidia drivers and ATI drivers will conflict.

EA Game ''Spore'' - Videocard & Driver Issue

Well, I can solve it but it is somewhat bad news. Basically your video card is not powerful enough. Here are the ATI specs from the EA website;
  • ATI Radeon™ series
  • 9500, 9600, 9800
  • X300, X600, X700, X800, X850
  • X1300, X1600, X1800, X1900, X1950
  • 2400, 2600, 2900
  • 3450, 3650, 3850, 3870,
  • 4850

    and here are NVIDIA
  • NVIDIA GeForce series
  • FX 5900, FX 5950
  • 6200, 6500, 6600, 6800,
  • 7200, 7300, 7600, 7800, 7900, 7950
  • 8400, 8500, 8600, 8800
  • 9600, 9800, GTX 260, GTX 280
I would recommend buying a new video card. You can pick up a NVIDIA 8400 thru 8600 for about $30 or $40 from or sometimes cheaper with rebate.

They are fairly easy to install.

    Good Luck.

    ATI x1650 Pro Stops!?

For this card they recomment at leat a power supply rating of 450 watts. If you have lower than this then I would suggest upgrading the power supply. A 550 watt psu is reasonably priced and should give you plenty of power for future use. Hope this helps.

    D3D malfunction

ATI does not like drivers installed over top of it's self. Weird I know. So uninstall through your control panel. If the uninstall fails download and run.:
After a reboot install the new driver & Catalyst control center.
