Kenwood KVT-719DVD 7 in. Car Monitor

Player says "CALL" upon startup

posted by mcferrando on Jan 03, 2008

Everytime I power up the receiver, it plays the radio or dvd sound for a couple of seconds, and then it ends up saying "CALL" in the upper left hand corner and the sound shuts off. The only way to fix it is by pushing the power button real quick, and then it works. It does this every time I power the system, and occasionally just randomly while I am driving. I did the install myself, and this is the only problem that has occurred. Any idea what's going on?

It sounds like the telephone mute wire at the back of the set has got trapped and is shorting to ground and it then mutes the radio, remove the set and look for a trapped tel mute wire and wrap insulation tape around it to prevent it happening again
