Out of the blue, the disc tray will not open and display reads LOCK. Trouble shooting instructions say to press simultaneously both the eject and stop buttons to release the lock mechanisim. LOCK is still not released after several attempts. Any suggestions?

Dear Mark Evans,
You know what worked - I unplugged the player - waited a couple of minutes - plugged it back in, turned the machine on - and wala! Thanks for your time and effort!!!!

there is a small hole in the front of the tray that will accept a straightened paper-clip. gently insert the clip and the tray should release. if the cd/dvd disc is dislodged from being flat in the tray, it may not come out. you might need to open the cover and manipulate the disc to get it back flat in the tray. a good first test is to see if the disc plays. if it does, it is in the tray correctly and should be easily released with the paper clip. the try might work after you release it. another possible first try would be to gently push inward on the tray after telling it to release. if there is extra tension on the tray it could cause the mechanism to not release. freeing the tension on the tray could be all that you need to get the 'unlock' to release. (kinda like trying to open a door when someone is pushing it very hard against the lock mechanism. it wont be able to move). good luck mark
