It is illegal to copy DVD movies and being security software on the disc that prevents you from doing so. AS for speeding the computer up you defrag the hard drive and select some of your startup programs to not automatically run at the start of windows.
The x1000 is the series, not the model and thus I can't tell if your specs are adequate for a faster boot and operational speed. The model should be on the bottom of the notebook.
