Generic problem for all PC Laptops

I have a compaq X1000 DM 773 A laptop. It is is taking too much time during start up or during working (15 min). also i am not able to disc copy DVD movies. Would it possible to suggest solution?

ApprenticeIt is illegal to copy DVD movies and being security software on the disc that prevents you from doing so. AS for speeding the computer up you defrag the hard drive and select some of your startup programs to not automatically run at the start of windows.
The x1000 is the series, not the model and thus I can't tell if your specs are adequate for a faster boot and operational speed. The model should be on the bottom of the notebook.
