Question about Televison & Video
My plasma T.V PLH4220SD 106cm which is 15mths old has stopped working. My kids were playing the xbox then there was a very loud pop and the picture went, then 20seconds later the sound went. There is still power to the t.v. but the screen is black and no sound. I had a repair guy come. He had a 2sec look and he said it would cost between $800 and $1500 to fix. Does this sound right?
I would love any advise.

SOURCE: Samsung plasma all black screen
Black Screen come from three areas. 1- Power Supply Board 2- Inverter Board 3- Processing Board on the LCD. Since the Power Supply Board was replace, it easy to troubleshoot where the problem. lies If you cannot get the backlight, then its the inverter board. If you can use a flash light on the TV screen and can barely see the images, then the problem is indeed the inverter board. If you cannot see any images when using a flash light, then the problem comes from the LCD processing board. Let me know if you have any success. Mike

SOURCE: Vizio 42 Plasma Pop
My 42 Inch Vizio experienced the pop of death out-of warranty. I bought mine at Sears and they sent a technician over within a day or so. It turned out to be in the power supply and they shipped a board right out. Total including parts and labor was $280. Although no expensive TV should die after less than 2-years, Sears seems to be able to deal with repair in the home without drama.
