Well, there are a number of possible reasons can cause your Lenovo computer running slow than it used to, it is hard to identify just what might be dragging down its performance, let alone implement the necessary technical adjustments to fix it. It may well be some form of virus or spyware.

It may also be that you have too many applications running at once eg. lots of toolbars and instant message typ programs.

It can also happen on graphic intensive applications.

You should rule out nasty stuff first.

MBAM !

for a free one its pretty darned good !

From a CLEAN computer download and put on a flash drive.

Copy to your DESKTOP on the suspec computer.

Run it but dont change any options just use what it offers.

When its done let it clean anything it finds.

Its where I always start with an infected machine.

As for antivirus AVOID Norton or Mcafee but try the AVG FREE version MBAM should clean up without buying

Only continued use would require purchase As for too many applications that would be up to you to decide what you REALLY need and dont. Most toolbars are a waste of both time and space and can hog computers down. Maybe a good clean up is in order ?

It may just be a "leaking application"

These are badly coded programs that dont release memory when they should and just keep taking more to do the same job.

May I suggest you download
"hijackthis"

It is a program that can make a report on what you have running in such a way that you can post that information to certain sites and experts there will look at it.

They will then give you reccomendations as to how you can remove programs or fix some issues that may be upsetting your computer.

Dont post the log here but follow the nstructions and help the program offers to send it to one of the sites it will offer you.

If you understand startup lists you may even be able to spot som things yourself that you dont want to run and disable them from hijack this.

You may have a virus, if you don't have any virus software then you will need to use a free one like Avast ( the one I use).
If you do have anti virus soft run a full scan of your computer.
Sometimes a virus will not let you use the internet if this is so you will need to do a repair install of your operating system.

Mac M1 Pro 2020. How to fix it, slowness issue?

Question edited for clarity and toss in some CAPS.

It is a well known issue.

If you find your Mac is running slowly, there are a number of potential causes that you can check. Your computer's startup disk may not have enough free disk space. To make disk space available, you can move files to another disk or an external storage device, then delete files you no longer need on the startup disk.

Why is my computer slow?

remove all but essential apps and programs
while it has 16 gb of memory the ram is working overtime to move data around as it loads
if it is a pc unit (not a phone ) then when you finally get it to open go to device driver and do a defrag on the hard drive
I suspect that the hard drive is on the edge of failure as well
take it to a it geek shop for a systems check to see what is slowing it down

Does rebooting help fix pc game issues

The game usually comes with a minimum spec for the computer. The game may require better graphics or more memory. What is the game? What is the computer? Are you saying the game runs fine in WinXP/Win7 but not win 8?
Rebooting will only help fix an issue if the computer has been bogged down by a program (or programs) that are misbehaving. If you have a game that requires all your PC to run, you can try quitting everything that runs in the background.
Most games have options you can also tweak. Try selecting a lower screen size, lower graphic details, etc ..

My computer too slow always get the not responding reply.

Eliminate Viruses and Spyware
Step 1

Run your antivirus program. There may be something slowing your computer that you can remove. It is a good idea to run your antivirus program every week.
Step 2

Remove spyware. Run a good spyware tool at least twice a month.
Step 3

Use a pop-up blocker, if you have one. Check your antivirus program.

Dispose of the Extras

Step 1

Delete your document files for anything you no longer need. Saved pictures, audio and video files in particular can slow your computer.

Step 2

Remove unwanted programs from the Control Panel area. Old toolbars or games the kids downloaded off the Internet are a good place to start. Look for software you no longer use, such as the old printer you threw out last year.

Step 3

Clean out your email. Old messages are a constant drain on your computer's resources. Go through every folder, deleting everything you do not need. Leave no mail! Finish by emptying the Deleted Items folder.

Step 4

Turn off unnecessary programs. Check your taskbar for icons that show running programs. Disable anything you are not currently using.

Run Maintenance

Step 1

Run the Disk Cleanup tool located in your Control Panel. (Windows only. For other operating systems, please check the Resources section below.) This will remove temporary files, cookies and unnecessary components to speed up your computer.

Step 2

Defragment your computer. Defragging takes some time, but will speed your computer significantly. You can find the tool in your Control Panel. Run it monthly.

Step 3

Check for disk errors. Sometimes corrupted files slow down your computer. To find and fix these files, Go to My Computer and right-click on C drive. Choose Properties, then Tools.

If the computer is restarted it is slow to respond. When does respond it very slow. It seems to hang up before it display the hp logo. the same occassionally happens coming out of sleep or hiberation...

Slow booting can be caused by several things. Usually when it hangs it is a driver or update program that is having problems. For example when adobe reader updates it can take a few minutes to check to see if there is a update and so on. These are annoying as the intent is they pop up first thing to say they have an update instead of doing in the background and showing a message a few minutes after booting.

What can also happen is having to reboot it or force it to reboot it can corupt a setup and the program stalls or won't run the next time.

What you need to do is remove any programs you can out of the startup menu to start with. There are a couple of speed loaders that may be in here. Office and adobe as examples. Just move them out of the startup or delete them. They don't need to run and I've never seen them actually save any time in how fast the programs start.
There are other programs such as MSN or other programs that are set by default to run at startup. Those you can change to start when you start them not when windows does. These also can slow things down bu usually when you see the desktop.

The next place to look is add remove programs. Look for any programs that you have recently installed or do not use anymore. If you can remeber you may be able to spot which one was the one that was installed just before everything slowed down. Again this could be updates or corrupt parts of the program.

At this point if you haven't found te problem then it will be either a virus or corrupt driver. Depending on what version of windows you have you can run regedit or msconfig from the start/run window and then look at what starts up.

You should also try running antivirus or antispyware programs. Spyware tend to be dumber versions of viruses. Those will keep downloading more and more until the computer is running so slow it may take an hour or so just to put. There are several online sites that will run searches and let you fix them. there are a lot more that do the search and say spend money. A good one is www.microtrend.com called housecall. It is good at find viruses and spyware and gets rid of them.

Thats covers quite a bit but you should be able to narrow it down and then if it still is slow get specific help to finish it up if it is still slow.

My pc contains 1 gb. of memory with 40 gb. hard drive its quite slow what can i do to speed it up? especially start up very slow

More memory the better. Find out what the max is and put it in. 1 Gb is enough to run Xp (Min 2Gb for Vista).
There a few other things that slow your computer the way you described.
  1. You need memory on the hard drive that your Operating system2_bing.gif is on. I would say 25% or more.
  2. Clear your temporary Internet, cookies and cache from you web browser (IE, FireFox, Opera, Ect)
  3. To many thing running in the background, if you are comfortable with computers (you can use "msconfig" to turn extra programs off)
  4. Defrag your hard drives2_bing.gif
  5. As much memory as you can will always help.
I hope this helps.

Slow downloading and slow general usage

If the computer has always been slow, then yes additional RAM will help. If you are running XP, 1 Gb or ram runs great, 2 Gb runs a touch better. If you are running Vista, I highly recommend moving to 2 Gb.

If the computer is generally getting slower and slower, then it just needs a tune-up/clean-up. I am assuming you are not computer savvy, so I would suggest calling a local computer shop. Ask them for a general cleanup service on your computer. Do not pay more than $100.
