My father in law recently had his tv go out on him... I was busy with school and was unable to look at it for him so he called Sharper Image to come out and take a look at the Set.. They concluded that C555 and C556 were bad and ordered the parts and replaced them for him... Shortly after the Tech left there was Chk code in the upper left screen... 1 phone call later they were able to enter the Set into self check and the code went away... It has ever since changed channels randomly... It is very annoying... The same tech came out and Checked the set again and said that he unhooked the front panel and to let him know if it worked... Well It didnt... Said Sorry panasonic doesnt make the part to fix it your SOL and referred to buy a new TV...
After reading on here I noticed that Q553 has usually been replaced with C555 and C556. Could this transistor be causing this issue? I am not afraid of soldering in any way shape or form... I am IPC 7711/7721 certified so I can handle anything... Would really like to get this fixed for him as ShaperImage has already drained him a few Hundred $$$ and he has yet to have a fully functional TV back...
Thanks in advance,
James

After looking into thinks personally I think there might be a cold/cracked solder joint on the power board itself... I slid the tray out and checked q553... I dont like the looks of the solder connection there... I slid things back in after checking over everything else briefly on the powerboard...
Everything looked decent from top side.. Put everything back together and set has yet to flip channels... Its been a few hours... If things continue this way Then it definetly a bad solder connection somewhere...
When I get time I will be pulling the board completely out and Inspecting it under a high quality microscope and anything not up to IPC class 3 will get reworked or replaced.
