Question about Arris SURFboard SBG900 Wireless Router (DHSBG900)
As I said I was probably trying to fix something that wasn't broken. I finally checked with Motorola and they instructed me to reset the gateway with the recessed reset button. From there you can sign in with the default words, Admin & Motorola. From those pages you can activate the firewall and select other security modes. My firewall had not been activated by installers.
Thanks for all the good advice from Fix Ya, Jimmbob

For what reasons do you want to install a firewall on the wireless network? There may be valid one's I just need to understand what you want to achieve.
Here is another option to complete a different task that traditional firewalling will not stop.
If it is to secure the network from use by others outside those intended then there are other means that should be considered. The SBG900 supports WEP encryption -- where a password (or passphrase) is entered into the router and into each wireless adapter (assuming the wireless adapters also support WEP) of machines to connect to the router keeping those machines without the password off the network.
