My ice maker isn't getting water to the tray so

my ice maker isn't getting water to the tray so isn't making ice. this happened after door left ajar and after I turned it off and cleaned and defrosted it. Is there a fix?

- thank you a ton for the suggestion about dumping water into the tray. I think I've got a bad valve and ice maker as I was able to manually dump fresh ice yesterday but then the tray did not refill and that was pretty much the end. I'm a lawyer. I owe you for your time. It would work , if you handled the clip with insulated pliers . You only hold it in there , until the motor starts moving .

Power will go thru the paper clip , so I would not be touching it when jumping . I would not use a paper clip anyway . Wasn't a very smart solution given , without warning about electricity and paper clip .

- Pour about 2/3 cup of water into the ice maker . If it freezes and dumps , but no water fill , then the fill valve behind the refrig , where the wall water line conects to , is bad . If the ice maker does not dump the cubes , then the ice maker is bad . Make sure the coils at the bottom in front , behind the kick plate , are clean of dust , lint , pet hair , etc , because dirty coils , can cause the temperature in the freezer to rise above 5 degrees , which is the operating temp for the ice maker .Nov 02, 2009

cycle the icemaker by removing the front cover and putting a jumper wire or paper clip from the m to the n terminal, ( motor to neutral) if the icemaker cycles and fills with water let it run, if it doesn't dump it is bad change it. if it doesnt' fill the water valve is bad
